Lucky son of a....

Ever met people who just seem to have everything going for them, and yet, they did little to deserve it? I've met more than one of these people and it annoys me. I mean it seems like they get life handed to them on a silver platter, and yet I'm having to work hard in college just to make sure that I have a job when I get out. However, these lucky people do drugs, sleep around, get drunk, etc. Yet they are able to get their BA, and get a higher paying job than I'll get. What's your feeling on people who just seem to be lucky at life?

I know a guy like that... he got everything I ever wanted, and he was an asshole to me, and he dared to ask me why I didn't like him.

Well my friend you are feeling the pangs of jealousy. If this person you are referring to is just really clever and charismatic and that makes their life easy than you can't really openly dislike them for it...buuut if they are simply from a rich family and thus they don't have do to do anything and further more they have no appreciation for that fact then....just fucking steal it all from them. Nothing is parted more easily than a fool and his money.

He does that for everyone and he gets his secretary to do it for him while he plays Golf with Julius Irving, Sir Issac Newton and Thomas Jefferson.

I've noticed the opposite holds true more often. The people who used to give me crap in high school have mostly dropped out of university. At last check, one of them was working full time at a juice stand. Heehee. I shouldn't find that funny, but I do.

I've seen those juice stands and you should be laughing.
What do you aim to do again?

Most likely something in the public service. I don't really have any set aim. I was looking at job adverts the other day and once I graduate, I think i'd probably be qualified for something around the range of $40,000 a year to begin with. Certainly more than $30,000 anyway.

Apart from that, I might hopefully make a bit of money on the side with music.

I'll have about $12,000+ to pay off. But I can live at home for another year and get that paid off pretty easily.

Arts. Doing a double major in politics/international studies. Might go back one day and do Science as well.

Sounds like that episode of the Simpsons. With the guy who sees Homer getting off easily ends up killing himself.

They end up earning-and-subsequently-ignoring the ire of those who end up having jokes made at their burying ceremony, like Grimes did after he went to work with Homer.

Not since the court order i ain't. :(

...wait, i get it. You mean LG is better off with Satan. The whole flames reference ... sorry i was so slow.
You should probably know that Satan's ego is a little too big to handle a mate like LG. You'd see a lot of things go pretty wild if that pair ever worked out on a Sunday picnic. *nods*

Stoney, I note from some of your other posts that a lot of stuff gets to you. Chill, you got a lot more than some people. You ever thought someone might look at you driving down the road and say 'man, why's Stoney so lucky'? Some people have to walk 10 miles just to get water but lucky Stoney just flicks the tap or goes to get a cool beer. I pass though an expensive area on my way to work in the morning and often pass people like Chris Rea, Howard Jones or one of the spice girls in their big fancy cars and yes, I do say why do some people have more luck than me but then hey, I think they don't get to know Stoney like I do, they don't get to walk down the road without someone pointing at them.:p

I think I may be one of those people that the original poster hates, resents sounds more correct, but I don't try to be. I abuse drugs and alcohol, stay out too late and spend more time entertaining than anyone I know. But, I arrive later, leave earlier and get more done than nearly anyone at work. I can't explain it and won't try. If it makes you feel better you can take some satisfaction in the fact that my substance abuse and smoking will put me in the grave early.

I'm talking about people who do drugs, sleeps around alot, drinks, party all the time. Don't seem to do any real work, and yet they succeed at everything. Meanwhile the rest of mankind is working their butts off just to make ends meet.

Sounds like that episode of the Simpsons. With the guy who sees Homer getting off easily ends up killing himself.

Wow...a thread about this and I am the first to mention My Name Is Earl. Anyone who saw the episode where Earl had to work at a fast-food joint with a dictatorial jerk as a boss knows who I mean. He treated his employees like dirt, stole from the till, stole supplies, abused others' cars and rubbed it in their faces (he dinged another person's car door with his own BMW and left a note saying, "I hit you. Good luck finding me.") Yet he had money, a nice house, a young, vibrant wife, an equally vivacious mistress (yes, he cheated on his wife) and a collection of coffee mugs labeling him as the "World's Best" this and that. Considering the show's central theme was karma and how doing good things will come back to reward people (and doing bad things will come back to punish people,) the jerkwad boss seemed to be "karma-proof."

Unlike in The Simpsons, this guy got what was coming to him. Of all things, Earl punched his boss after his boss humiliated him in front of customers. The boss had to go to the hospital, and both his wife and his mistress met him there. Needless to say, his wife found out he was cheating and divorced him, and while she was cleaning his stuff out of the house, she discovered his stolen cash, called the police, and he ended up in jail sipping from a makeshift mug with the inscription "World's Best Bottom" on it. I have no idea how that one got through the censors.

Do I really believe that stories like this always work out this way? Hardly. I wish. But stories like this have to come from somewhere.
