What turns you off?

Ok, we have a thread about off the wall attractivness, which is basicaly a "what weird thing turns you on." Well, now it's time for you to tell us what turns you off!
For me, I hate a stupid woman who can't hold a converstation. If all she can talk about is MTV, Hollywood, or what her friend and her friend's boyfriend did last night, she will strike out with me.
I am also turned off by fatness. I take good care of my body, I watch what I eat, I ride my bike for an hour everyday, and I just take good care of my body. Seeing women who are fat, stuff their faces with unhealthy food, and just look like land whales turn me off. They just make me cringe in disgust.
Another turn off is women who call themselves "bitch". To me, that's a warning sign to stay the hell away. Seriously, why would you want to call yourself that? It just doesn't reflect good on you.
I also hate self centered woman who thinks that she should win every battle, that I should wait hand and feet on her, and will spend lotsa $$ for a gift. I hate women who are all about themselves.
Also, I can't be with a woman who doesn't respect the fact that I am a devoult Roman Catholic and that my relationship with God and Jesus comes first.

I must say I pretty much agree with the initial post, I too am a devout Roman Catholic, and once had to make the ulmighty choice between a very attractive girl, and my faith, which she referred to as "religion bullshit" Although the seldom chosen choice, my faith was victorious. I think a closed mind kind of fits in this category too, if someone has their own prescribed notions about everything, and is unwilling to ever consider any other views, that is a turn off.

I feel the same way, except for the last point. Religion has little to do with what turns me off or on.

Yeah, meanwhile you can stick it to those infidels.
You know, I am just not too sure. I guess what isn't really that good are those who think that 'they are all that'. You could call it self-centeredness and a bit of control issues too. Other than that, I just like those with whom I can talk to for a long time, without a lull in the conversation or boredom.

You wanna know? Black girls. I have not once found one acctractive, and most repel me, and that's just physically. In these suburbs, every black girl seems to think she came from the ghetto, tries to be as loud and abrasive as possible, and are none too bright. The very sound of their voice grates on the chalkboard of my mind like a thousand nails, and the laughter (always at someone else's expense) is simply torture.
But that's a racsist/sexist generalization, haven't met 'em all, don't plan to. :)

Personally, I find thinness a bigger turn-off than fatness. Especially the extreme cases when you can see the outlines of bones, but also in less extreme situations. A girl has to have some mass for me to differentiate them from a child.

the causes of anxiety and suffering basicly are pretty much what turns me off. the romantacizing and rewarding of the aggressiveness of gratuitous conventionality, making everything have to begin and end with little green pieces of paper, rubber tyre on pavement, the diseconomies of excessive scale, austentation as an end in and of itself (which is nothing but sleaze with a high end price tag as far as i can see). whether of an individual, a nation, an idiology or a culture.

Girls. Girls almost always suck. Granted there are exceptions but I would say at least 80% of all women I meet are not worth speaking with for more than a few minutes. On the other hand many guys are like this too I guess but I don't go anywhere and keep an eye out for guys I would like to meet. They are largely invisible.
Although I can usually tell almost instantly upon meeting a girl if they fall into column A or column B. Judgemental? Fuck yea. I'll still talk to them but it is a very rare occasion when it turns out I was wrong and the girl didn't suck. Unfortunately it does happen that seemingly "cool" girls actually suck as well.
P.S. There are probably some that are extrodinarily hot and intimidating or have boyfriends with them that are cool but unavailable that are not included in those numbers. Actually, now that I think of it most of the cool girls I do know have boyfriends. Thats what happens I guess.

-A Know-it-all
-Superficial ness
-Being disrespectful
-Being unappreciative
-Liars
-Vulgar mouth. Not regular cussing.. I mean just a filthy/foul mouth.

-Victim complexes
-Pridefullness .. can cover a whole slew of bad traits. Being so prideful they can't admit to being wrong is a good indicator... you will never hear an apology from these folk.
-Narcissist ..egocentrics
-Laziness
-A cheater .. whether they cheat in relationships.. or cheat elsewhere.. still a cheater
-A thief
-A snitch
-Sordidness
-Selfishness
-Being mean and cruel
-lack of basic hygeine
All I can think of atm.

Um, what else? Fatness, I guess. I won't deny that. I don't care how bad that sounds. Obesity is a turnoff. But hey, over-skinniness is almost as bad.
Piercings. Don't like 'em. Ears, fair enough, but anything else I find a bit offputting.

Ridiculous materialism, valley-girl talk (it really is obnoxious), disrespect for my musical tastes. Smoking is a huge turn off as well, as well as excessive drug use of any other kind.
Closed mindedness (I know it sounds hypocritical), but it can be annoying. Bad hygiene is also a turn off. So is indirectness. If she's got something she wants me to know, she should fucking tell it to me.

Body ordour, definitely. That's foul body ordour. And bad breath.
A few years ago when I was still at uni, I was friends with the best looking girl in the class (this wasn't difficult, as it was a comp programming class). She came round one evening and we got drunk. She slept in the spare bed (I was living with a girl at the time, but she was in another town visiting friends that weekend).
In the morning, she came in wearing nowt but a pair of panties (small white panties at that) and hopped into bed with me and we spooned. Things were going along ok until she turned round and I got a huge whiff of morning breath. Man, that was foul! Any erotic feelings I may had totally evaporated. I just couldn't face doing anything with her after that. I made an excuse of it not being right, cause I was with someone else (so was she for that matter) and we left it at that. She thought I was such a wonderful great honourable guy, refusing sex because I 'cared' for my g/f so much. I never felt the need to correct her on that. Ego massage is always appreciated.
So lesson here was: always make sure you have a smint or tic tac before getting into bed with someone.
The other day I was in the gym and some guy walked in who smelt like he hadn't washed for a month. It was a real foul stale cheesy sweat smell. I could smell him from 10 feet away - any closer and I was, literally, gagging.
It occurred to me then, that no matter how nice a guy he might be, there's no way he would be able to meet any girls smelling that bad.
Always look after your personal hygiene. You never know when you might meet someone special.
Off hygiene, onto personality traits. Arrogance and flightyness are total turnoffs for me. I just can't stand ppl who are arrogant. I immediately start looking for a way to leave - out of politeness, cause if I stayed I'm liable to get into an argument or just start winding them up out of boredom.
The biggest turn off for me is a girl who won't stop whining. It's one thing to complain about a headache or a sore back every once in a while, but when every day is another complaint about some minor malady...argh. It get's annoying as hell.

The absolute biggest turn-off I can think of is lack of intelligence. Not to denigrate people in that position at all, but I just wouldn't have anything in common with them. Intelligence is definitely my biggest turn-on.
Nor could I date someone religious. Again, not to denigrate religious people, but we'd have nothing in common.
I also couldn't stand arrogance, deceit, mysogny in a potential partner.
Physical traits? Those who look like spides/chavs are an instant turn-off, but so are any fashion victims. Bad breath. Complete baldness.

I like cute girls. Skanky or slutty girls are pretty ugh. I also don't like huge breasts on small girls, because that just looks off. No fat girls eithers. Oh and as long as they can hold a conversation and don't outwardly hate me its all gooood. But I'm still way picky, and always want different things. Maybe a girl with multiple personalities? :)
Oh and if she didn't smoke that would be a benefit, since the smoke makes me sick after awhile.

That's a really interesting one. I personally would like to marry a woman with similar views to me, but with some differences. For example, I can deal with different political views. Heck, I can even have a conversation on the theory of evolution WITHOUT insulting the other party - so a little bit of difference of opinion is perfectly ok. Tip: there's a line beyond which it begins to devolve into 'blah because blah' with circular reasoning on both sides. When it gets there, ditch the convo...
As posted on the other thread, being Christian is one of the important ones. Dating a non-Christian is only going to rip me AND her off - it'd likely drag me away from Church.

How else do you suppose she maintains her leathery, anorexic, bitter, beauty?
Sounds about right. Makes more sense than my idea ... she's the same as that queen mentioned in the movie version of The Brothers Grimm.

Ok, we have a thread about off the wall attractivness, which is basicaly a "what weird thing turns you on." Well, now it's time for you to tell us what turns you off!
Let's see...
I would be turned off by a person who is unintelligent.
I would also be turned off by a person who is too submissive. While human doormats have their uses, I'm not particularly interested in an intimate relationship with one.
[NS:::]Vegetarianistica

FAT. makes me feel sick.
Oh, so many things, I'm picky.
I should start with the physical, I suppose as that's the first thing one notices about a person usually.
1. "gangsta" clothing. Seriously, if a guy has his jeans hanging off his ass and a bandana on his head and/or looks like he wants to be in a rap video that's a good indication things would never work. I was also assaulted by a guy in such attire before so I'm slightly prejudiced against all of them.
2. Obesity. Chubbiness is alright and sometimes desireable (cuddliness is good) to some extent though... I need a guy who's somewhat in shape, I'm a fairly active person and I need someone who can actually say, play frisbee or go for long walks or bike rides with me without getting winded shortly into the trip.
Now the non-physical
1. Stupidity. This one's pretty self-explanatory.
2. Being wrong and stubborn and lashing out when corrected. I dated a guy who got his information on scottish history from Braveheart and got offended when I repeated what some scottish people I'd spoken to said, claiming that since he was of scottish descent (I'm part too...) that he should know this better than me. He would get offended if I pointed out he was wrong in something that's related to my field of study, for fuck's sake... If you're going to be stubborn about something, make sure you're right or can at least back up your point of view. If you're shown to be wrong, then admit it and move the fuck on.
3. Clinginess. Again, I dated a guy who practically wanted to marry me after our first date.
4. Paranoia. I have male friends, I don't fuck them, I don't plan on fucking them, so don't freak out when I go to spend time with them.
5. Racism/homophobia/sexism... self explanatory.
6. Lacking a backbone. If a guy disagrees with me and gives up his stance because he thinks it will make me happy, he's quite wrong. I like a guy who will debate, agreeing to disagree at the end would be best, but don't just concede your point.
7. Expecting me to do all the work in the bedroom. Again, this one's self explanatory.
8. Refusal to try new things.
9. Displays of machismo.
10. Extreme religiousity. This would probably include the opening poster in the thread... but then he wouldn't want me either...
11. Excessively high/low self esteem.
There are more, but I can't think of them.
A huge turnoff is being high maintenence. No drama queens. I don't mind a little chubbiness. More to love. Girls that think they are ugly/unattractive... every woman has some sort of beauty, even if it's not physical.

D'oh! I forgot that in English, the same word is used for both the coiffure and body hair.
You're free to steal the following words: karva (a single body hair), hius (a single hair from the head). To prevent the "co-cayn"* pronounciation, spell the latter as "hyus".

Being devoutly religious, unsightly facial and bodily features, inability to break away from the sheep mentality a.k.a. mainstream overmind, constant smiling and desire for attention, fake sympathy and politeness in public and in private, ignorant arrogance, infatuation with celebrities, stubborn conviction and attachment to an argument or point of view despite it being logically unsound and thoroughly defeated, the need for conformity, aggressive suspicion and lack of trust, constant desire for confirmation of love, masking of actual beliefs on a matter for fear of hurting feelings, etc.
Needless to say, I'm extremely selective and will not lower my standards for longterm partners. One night stands, fuck buddies, I don't give a damn, as long as they're free of STDs and not so impossibly unattractive that my cock stays flaccid.

The little switch on the back of my neck...just flip it and I shut down for a period of 12 hrs. :D
Oh wait, the other type of turnoff?
Too much makeup. FFS, I don't want to date a girl who's face is BURIED under 5 lbs of whatever-the-hell they put on themselves. I want them to be hot without the damn makeup.
Nor do I want some gossip queen who can't STFU. Unfortunately, most of the girls at my HS are. I'm getting a ride from a friend of mine, to work with her on a a project at the library. Then one of her gossip-queen friends shows up out of the blue, and in that melo-saccharine voice, asks "omg are u goin out with her??"
Me: :headbang:
Ignorance and/or stupidity is a big one. You don't have to agree with me on anything, but please have an oppinion based on something rather then it looks good in pink.
Also, my favorite female body part is the lips so when they have thin , almost invisible lips I find it to be really unattractive. This also goes along with teeth, when you are missing a few, they are permanently yellow or some are decayed/rotting/black then we weren't meant to be.
And finally, I need to be physically attracted to the woman so somebody who is obese turns me off. I don't mean women should have the perfect toned stomach but when you are really overweight I tend to think you don't take care of yourself. I know there are some heavy people that try to do well, but my mind won't listen. Although, I also hate when women go so far to have a 6pack or body better then a small bodybuilder.
The biggest pet peeve though is bad manners. Chew with your mouth closed or leave me be.

A turn off is people who complain all the time. They complain about the least little thing. If something bugs them, they never let go of it. They just go on and on long after anyone else is interestd. Its complain, complain, complain! People who gripe all the time really drive me nuts. You'd think they would change the subject after a while but they never do! They just keep griping until you start to wonder, " Whats wrong with this idiot?" But they go on compalining and repeating what they all ready said.
And obesity.

1) Smoking. Which is odd, as my boyfriend smokes....occasionally, but when he comes back indoors after a crafty fag the last thing I want to do is inhale the scent....
2)Lack of discretion. Like when you say you cant stay at his tonight, you have coursework/work, and he lagush (in front of his mates and yours) 'nah-You're just on the rag/got the painters in/shagging your rampant rabbitt' Cue embarrasssed looks from all but said twat....
3) Black hair, ginger beard. What the hell is that? Do you dye one, or both? Do the curtains match the carpet? Yeesh....
4) The biggest turn-off, and I mean the coup-de-grace here, is the 'Arrogant mockery'. The 'Hello, you just beat me at an argument that started out at a pleasant conversation until you deliberately misunderstood me, made me look like a dumb little girl in front of someone who is either going to employ me/rent to me/hang around with me, and kept reminding me of the 'victory' every half hour or so, and repeatedly explaining why your impressive intellect won out over my dumb grey cells, when I didnt even ask. And you now want head. Fuck off.......'

I think chubby can be cute-especially in girls as its not really from eating badly, but hormones distributing fat to hips, tits and bum!
I think really grossly obese-where they're bulging when they're stood up, the skin is stretched and clammy, and they look as if they're in constant pain....and keep stuffing insanely huge amounts of food into their mouth (eg-you have a burger and fries, maybe a coke. They get three double baco's, a large fries, two lots of dunkin' donuts, two smoothies......etc)
I dont mind chubby, its just morbidly obese that scares me. Im a teeny tiny woman and cant imagine feeling turned on by being smothered by a blob of gasping, sweating blubber at night....I understand we cant all be 100% healthy (im not) but theres being normal, and being at risk of serious health problems.....
1) Stupidity, ignorance (especially wilfull ignorance) and conservativeness. The three seem to travel together.
2) Religiousness.
3) Know-it-allism
4) Being closedminded, not wanting to try new things.
5) Hairiness (I don't mind leg and arm hair, but don't like chest hair more than a little sprinkling and as for back hair.. *shudder*)
6) Bad hands, like too big, calloused and just,,, ugly.
7) Lips that are the same colour as the rest of his face. It's hard to explain... but it seems to occur more with ocker guys who don't care how they look... maybe it's a sun thing...

Stupidity, unwarranted jealousy, blond hair, effeminate men, boring personalities, women who define themselves by the guy they are with, smell and worst of all: people who are so slim that you cant really snuggle to them. I hate feeling hard hipbones and clearly seeing the ribcage makes me want to forcefeed the person instead of being intimate.
big turn offs in order:
1. when the chick is cheap
2. if the girl randomly cracks at people for stupid reasons (this includes racism/talking about people behind their back)
3. if she tries to hard to fit in
4. if her mind is dirtier than mine
5. if she is too "goody goody"
6. if she smells just once, im automatically not attracted to her
7. if she looks fake
8. too much makeup
9. fake tits
10. if she is a poser
11. when shes mad skinny (like the above poster mentioned)
referring to number two, i was with this girl when a random girl passed by (that she didnt even know), and she called her a bitch (not to her face)
not only was this weird but it pissed me off..
:( :( My fingers are calloused from bass playing and my chest is indeed hairy. :( :(
I don't mind calloused fingers, its more palms. You know... manly-man palms. :p

Turn offs in women? Damn, too many to list... but I'll try
lack of confidence
stupidity
high heels
too much make-up (I prefer little to no make-up... trying to look 'perfect' betrays personality aspects that I don't like, and can be intimidating)
blonde hair
very short hair
short skirts
arrogance (especially those girls who think that all men find them attractive)
submissiveness
bigotry
being a loudmouth
lack of sensuality
lack of sexual drive/curiosity
being overly flirty
being overly materialistic
smoking too much
drinking too much
partying too much
Ugh....of many, I could say women who are activists (ie socialism, womens rights, all that crap).
All activists or just activists for causes you disagree with? If all, is it that you prefer submissive women?

hmmm
spilling beer at a bar (AKA ALCOHOL ABUSE!) also pisses me off mildly sometimes.... especially when she spills it all over herself or me and a major mess is made.
tickling (in the rib area) me at the bar while my glass of beer is at my lips really pisses me off (had that happen once... of course i dropped the glass, it broke as i was trying to grab it, and one of my fingers got sliced open and bled badly for a while).... that's a turn off.
(i generally don't like being physically bothered when i'm sipping my beer. if a girl wants attention or a kiss, she needs to wait until i've set my glass/bottle/can down)

I dont enjoy women who are activists for causes I disagree with either. Its no different from people who put "religiousness" or "conservatism" on their turn offs list.
My biggest turn off is undoubtedly stupidity. A love of pop music and reality TV are also pretty terrible, too, and obesity.

Naked females - the quickiest way to kill off a boner (vs having a cold shower).
As for guy turn offs - people who don't look after themselves - I'm not saying having a sexy body, but simply those who can't be bothered having a shave, showering regularly, doing their hair, making ones self look presentable. For a potential guy I ask, "if this person can't look after himself, in the most basic of ways, how do I expect him to look after me".

Funny, talking about other peoples grammar while in fact you forget to type the first two letters of the word 'you'.
And in all fairness, The Beatles are terribly amataturistic and virtuosless music.
EDIT: I happen to find that grey hair with males adds a certain amoun of elegance.

- overtly macho men,
- hairless men (especially if they shave/pluck bodyhair),
- girls taller than me (5'9"),
- excessive materialism (especially demanding presents as some sort of validation of love),
- obesity,
- anorexia (when bones are visible thats too thin),
- conservatism,
- narrow mindedness
- racism, misogyny, xenophobia, nationalism, patriotism, homophobia,
- lack of style (i dont mean someone has to dress smart [i certainly don't] but its the androgenous running shoes, jeans and fleece look that really gets me, its not difficult to pick clothes that look good and cheaply too),
- and related to that - unadventurous MOR tastes.
oh and movie buffs really fucking bore me - movies are for entertainment only, im not interested in camera angles, editing techniques, in-depth analyses of plot lines - they are not a subject for academic debate

i dont think computers and grammar mix, just a curiosity of the medium, - its more the type using "youse" as a plural and that kind of thing, spoken language i mean
the beatles were rock'n'roll pioneers - their music has lasted generations, inspired countless others, they still have significance years down the track...if you like popular music, u gotta credit the beatles with more or less starting it. that isnt to say that some stuff isnt pretty darn cheesy.

That's even more annoying yes. But I'm someone who's easily annoyed alas. I'm allready annoyed if someone doesn't capitalize a day of the week. And with my poor grammar and spelling I shouldn't...
I personnally blame the likes of the Beatles for the downfall of music, Rock & Roll is cheap, catchy & unintelligent.
I'm seventeen too, but I think that grey curles on a guy - not a female - can really add to the elegance of that certain person.
And I agree with you on the submissiveness. I wouldn't like it of my companion would change because of me.

What turns me off about girls: (men shouldn't have this either)
#1: fatness. A girl should take good care of her body and maintain a good figure. I can't stand chubby, much less anything beyond it.
I'm taking good care of my figure myself (being 60kg at rouhgly 180cm), so I expect the same from the girl.
#2: Tan. Yuck. As I said, girls should take care of her body. Looking like a burnt toast is certainly anything but attractive!
Again, I'm maintaining a healthy untanned skin so I epect the same from the girl.
Religious girls who are giving me crap about God/Jesus and other religious BS, as well as conservative girls (the two generally come in the same disgusting package).
Often packed with religiousness, but can also come by itself: any form of prudity!
This refers to her clothing (wide sweatshirts and baggy jeans are a *big* turn-off, I expect clothing enhancing her female features!) as well as to her personality.
Also, if girls use so much make-up that they rather look like a circus clown than anything else (black eye rings and red lips are especially bad). Make-up should be kept natural looking. It's very much superfluent anyway: pretty girls don't need it, and with ugly ones it doesn't improve anything.
Arrogant No-Sex-for-You girls are pretty bad too.
Overly sporty or even musculeous girls. Ewww.
That is a MAJOR turn-off for me right there!
Religious girls will NOT get to have me. :gundge:
Same here. Give loonies no chance!
How truly demented of you instead
If I'm going to have sex with a girl, her breath is certainly the last thing I care about.

yep, to rephrase what has pretty much been said already.
girls that are to far into themselves, girls that cant talk about anything in a semi intelligent way (makes you feel like your dating a high school student), i also do not like the ones that try to be in a group they dont belong or pretend they came from somewhere they didnt, i find the ones that look like skeletons to be kind of gross looking, and the ones that are fat also.

There's a difference between chubby and flabby. For example, this is all OK, since it's not flabby: http://www.thepeeps.co.uk/blog2005/images/thong.jpg
UGH! Holy shit, that's NOT OK!!!
That's what I call a "souffle waist" and it needs to go away! It IS flabby, it's just pushed up so high by the skirt that it can't wobble! Cripes! Now I gotta cancel my lunch order.
I don't care much about fat, save for propostions. If something is huge in relation to everything else, it's off-putting. That includes breasts that are too large for the frame, hair too big for the head and guts too big for the torso. I don't care if she's 200-pounds-plus, so long as it's all in the right proportion and doesn't swing at me.

Nor do I want some gossip queen who can't STFU. Unfortunately, most of the girls at my HS are. I'm getting a ride from a friend of mine, to work with her on a a project at the library.
