What will the US be building next? Well, perhaps much smaller bombs that have bigger explosions than the 2000-lb one we drop now.

Good idea, or wrong direction? Or will some other country eventually do this research as well, and develop such weapons?

N60 would be like a soccer-ball. N8 would be a cube.

N8 would be four times more explosive power than any current conventional explosive, per unit weight.

So a US 500-lb Mk 82 using such an explosive would be equivalent to the US 2000-lb Mk 84.

A sphere made of lots of hexagons - which indeed is pretty close to a football.

Buckminsterfullerene. An amazingly useful wholly new way to shape matter. You'll be hearing a lot about it in the coming decade.
