Terrorism or Porn?

Desperate Measures

I don't know if this has been addressed on General. It may well have.

"I guess this means we've won the war on terror," said one exasperated FBI agent, speaking on the condition of anonymity because poking fun at headquarters is not regarded as career-enhancing. "We must not need any more resources for espionage."

http://www.thememoryhole.org/fbi/porn_films_1972-3.htm

I have my own ideas but what do the rest of you think? Considering the state of Homeland Security, should the FBI be devoting time to busting consenting adults?

The state of Homeland security aside (and we are far more secure than the government and media want us to realize), the FBI should never bust consenting adults or investigating porno.

We are very, very, very safe compared to what all news sources want us to believe.

And the FBI should not concern itself with porn, it has more important things to deal with.

You know, illegal things.

ya know, when the feds live in a dreamworld where porn can be contained it makes me wonder about their judgement of other things.

the president keeps saying that he cant possibly ask for permission to do this NSA spying thing because it will tip off alqaeda to the techniques used. what makes him think that someone in alqaeda didnt ask a typical 14 year old computer freak boy how the US might track their calls? i cant believe its something that no one outside of the NSA hasnt thought of

if they live in a world where they can catch everyone who looks at porn, how reliable is there assessment of world terror and their ability to catch all the terrorists?

if they get something as elementary as porn wrong, why should i believe they can figure out a solution to the middle east??

the FBI should not concern itself with porn, it has more important things to deal with.

You know, illegal things.

Those financing, producing and distributing legal porn have historically been the ones financing, producing and distributing illegal porn.

In addition, the loss of tax revenues through such industries as porn, alcohol, firearms and tobacco are a valid legal concern for any government. One that spends more than it takes in has a vested interest indeed.

Not paying taxes, not following labor laws, unregulated distribution and a lack of liability on the part of any of these industries not only raises the question of the benefit lost for the American people but raises concern as to where those profits are spent.

I mistyped meaning that the deceit is that bin laden is alive, whereas the truth is that he is almost certainly dead.

I don't have access to any information that other people don't (outside of knowing some people in the FBI but that does not amount to much) but I read enough sources, most of them international, to get a clearer picture of what is going on than someone who gets the news only from the mainstream US media. I'm not at all saying that I have special sources or inside information.

when was the last time there was a verifiable video tape of bin laden? it seems like a long time but i might be wrong.

it would not surprise me at all to find that the CIA is lying every time they verify that the voice on an audio tape is bin laden. they have lied about way too many other things for me to think them incapable of it.

All of those saying we should not investigate porn or prostitution are forgetting something.

Many women are forced into prostitution. They are brought to this country on the promise of freedom, then the people who bring them here force them to work as prostitutes. There is a word for this. SLAVERY! It was outlawed, for good reason. These women are being forced to do something AGAINST there will, and can get diseases and pregnancy to double. While obviously this is not the case for all prostitutes, the FBI should try to save the women that this is happening to.

And now for the porn. Heard of child pornography? You know, one of those sick things that makes most people vomit. Children often kidnapped or forced into pornography by parents who should be in jail and have the key thrown away. These cases should be investigated by the FBI.

If the government legalized prostitution, it'd have more control over prostitution. There would still be a lot of problems, but the sick pimps/slavedrivers would be screwed. I think legalizing it would definetely be a decent start.

And when I said the FBI shouldn't concern itself with porn, I was supposing that the only porn in question was legal, consenting adults-type porn. Of course child porn should be investigated, that's, among other charges, assault, statutory rape, and, well, child porn.

absolutely

these things are CRIMES and need to be investigated. how else will these horrible people be brought to justice?

i have no problem with the fbi going after forced prostitution or child porn. thats what i WANT them to do

so why waste time on the stuff that is made with willing adults who get paid for their participation?

Guys, you're missing the point. The FBI isn't "investigating porn." It can't; porn is legal. It's investigating illegal porn---basically, the stuff that isn't licensed, taxed, and regulated. It's basically the moonshine version of pornography, and I don't think anyone is angry over the government arresting bootleggers. (Except for the bootleggers themselves)

Look, Jenna Jameson is not a slave; she just plays one on TV. There are slave rings and slavery is against the law, as you rightly pointed out. No doubt the FBI should be concerned with slavery because that definitely is without consent. And this isn't about child porn because child porn is the antithesis of consenting adults - which is what the thread is about. Consenting Adults.
