Inspired by: this (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=467224), the 23rd post on that thread, and
this (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=467239).

All general script shall be written in Cyrillic.
All shorthand script shall be written in the Arabic alphabet.
All decorative script shall be written in the Chinese alphabet.

Hmmm?

Isn't the solution supposed to improve the situation rather than make it worse?

Look: Firstly, adding more letters complicates matters, and complicated language is harder to learn. Secondly, chinese can only be written pictorially or syllabically which would confuse people since the other alphabets are phonemic.

Yes making everyone learn 3 languages instead of 1 does improve the whole thing, not make it worse by 3

Granted cyrillic is good for writing, but there are things there that it doesn't need and things that are missing that should be supplied from the latin alphabet.

Things that it really doesn't need:
ь,Ъ, щ,е, я, ю,ы (my vote would be for э, а, у, и instead), ц (personal preference), ж (would be better off with a з or just a j)

Things that the cyrillic alphabet desperately needs:
j, w

While we're picking on alphabets, let's get rid of Q

T's fine. Too many good uses for it. X I would get rid of. Depending on the context, it usually winds up sounding like a k or a z anyway.

How many times am I going to have to say this? An English/Latin alphabet has more history, and is greatly superior any chicken-scratch leavings of some mouldy old saint.

Whyn not use English? It is already used by more people than Spanish or French. I think it has the most speakers out of all the languages with actual alphabets. Sure, Spanish is more spread out, but English is just more concentrated. Use 1 universal language.

Well, I think we can safely say just because it's old doesn't make it worthwhile. Look at the QWERTY keyboard layout. It's been around ever since typewriters not because it's a good keyboard arrangement but when typewriters were invented, it kept the keys from sticking together from people typing too fast. One would think by now, they would have pitched the whole layout and gone to DVORAK, but nooo. Too many people are used to typing inefficently to change.

If you wanted to actually simplify written language, you could change to a phonemic spelling system, and eliminate capital letters.

Eliminating capital letters, ehh, er, no. They seem like they're pretty useful for distinguishing the beginnings of sentences, proper nouns, and acronyms from everything else. Especially acronyms. They can be mistaken for regular words, like the difference between ups and UPS. I'm all for keeping apostrophes though.

Full stops show where sentences end. Proper nouns are obvious enough in that they don't have "a" or "the" behind them, and acronyms can be separated by full stops if necessary. A lot of the language features we consider essential are actually things we could do without. You'd be surprised.

Shouldn't it be "thou"?
