I didn't (still don't!) conform to any stereotype.....I was top of my class but rarely did my work on time and often argued (and I DON'T mean debated!) with the teachers; I was something of a hippy but with political views that can only be described as conservative; various other things.....I guess you could say I was a paradox!

Umm. I'm in the top class for maths/chemistry/english. I play cricket for the top team but I'm only in the 2nd 15 for rugby. I don't know. I'm part geeky, part sporty and then socially pretty good.

Don't know what sterotype I fit though. American and NZ secondary schools are very, very different.

nurdy, glasses, bad at sport, resonable with computors, top set for everything, liked generally (more by the women then the men) tended to be bullied but from a distance as if you push me to far I go completly psycotic and the only way to survive it is to have a head start on the running (I can go quickly for only a short period of time or slowly for indefinate), also has the greatest knoledge of many things that can kill you (explosives, weapons, chemicals, poisons, you name it I know how to kill people with it...) but generally quite pleasent and calm (its just sometimes people just go too far and then I snap (its supposed to be quite impressive I go from calm "i'll ignore you" to "i'm going to rip your face off and make you eat it!!!")

What were you/ are you presently as a teenager in high school/ secondary school?

I was mostly the shy geeky "good pupil" ;) Speaking with teachers after the classrooms, answering to their questions during the class, and doing computer stuff (mostly programming) during my free time. I was two years early in school, so most of the people around me where older than me, and so during my early teens I had only a few close friends, most others making fun of me more than anything else (and being the son of a teacher doesn't help for that - but it's great to have help at home :p). But later on I had more friends, when the age difference became less important. And if that matter, I never had a girlfriend during my teens, I was too shy and too interested in science/geeky stuff.

But I was also a bit of the rebel teen, wearing political clothes, having the "quelle connerie la guerre" ("what shit stupidity is war", the conclusion of a poem from Jacques Prévert, which was the motto of the young communists against Gulf War I, and which is from this time a really motto of the anti-war movement. The great part of it is that since it's poetry from a very famous poet, they can't forbid it in school !) emblem, and daring to oppose some teachers in history lessons (like, when this very right-wing teacher was lying to us, saying that french communists supported Hitler before Hilter attacked USSR, while as early as July 10th, 1940, the day after Pétain was given full powers, the communist party called french citizen to not accept Pétain and to resist by all means, including weapons, against the nazi invaders and all those who will collaborate with the nazi).

The nerd to the popular kids, the cool guy to the nerds. I am that guy who puts his hand up in class and asks something that the teacher has to look up. I'm that guy who speaks with perfect english and a mamoth vocabulary. I'm the guy who is always reading new scientist, or some novel far past my age. I'm the guy who is writing two novels and a play atm. I'm also the guy who does no work whatsoever, the guy who gets out of every punishment. The guy who does no revision for the exams and still gets a decent mark. I am the member of the debating society that is a kickboxing red belt. I'm the nerd that achually knows how to get on with a girl easily. I get on with most people, once the realise how complex and frankly strange I am ;)

I'm also the model gentleman, apparently; at least according to my gf.

As the line between teenager and grown-upness blurrs, I will have to say:

As a teenager I am the kid that gets along, more or less, with everybody. Smart enough to show up those band-kids that always have the monopoly on knowledge, only sometimes, because I'm too lazy or busy with my own life to always show them up. Get along with the jocks as we bash heads on the football feild. Get along with the loner kids because I was one before Junior High. As I attended a Catholic school, I stick out because I'm not Catholic. I'm the number two in everything I do, I'm the under dog. In sports, I'm quite capable, but not dominating. In grades, its the same thing. In everything I put my mind to, I'm almost unbelieveably sweet, but not that awesome.

As far as raging against athority, as we all do some times, I dabble in both submission and flat out raging protest. I do the angry smashing and whatnot until its time to stop, or before I get caught and delt a very big punishment. Its the nature of the game. As far as doing drugs, no. Beer, thats OK.

Girls are easy to get. I don't particularly like long, drawn out relationships, however, due to my nature, to frank, fear of commitment. Many girls also think I'm homosexual. That doesn't help. Anyhow, to display my manliness, I go out in the woods and kill things, like deer.

I'm a big time procrastinator, but always pull out with 90% or higher in every class.

But what do I got on everybody else? Nobody else is quiete Mariehamn. And by that I mean: my huge ego, a swath of broad expierences, and a throng of wonderful people that give me a hand when I need it (which includes NS, sometimes). :p

Always sorta quiet, never really athletic, never really popular. Except when it came to teachers - I never did homework, I never got along with any of them, and I got A's just out of spite. The whole class enjoyed my fights with teachers.
Other than that - a bit of a computer nerd with a hang for politics that no one wanted to hear about. A bit later I met other kids sorta like me (although most of them were older and more violent) and we got into fights with Skinhead-kids and other Neo-Nazis sometimes quite regularly.

Then I moved here, and I think that day I ended my teens (with 16) and started to act more like an adult.

I pulled some very nasty pranks on people and was often the target of brutal revenges. I would have been considered a bully, but I just as often targeted larger, older kids that used to beat the shit out of me as the smaller kids.

It's one of those odd reversals in life; when I was young, I messed the most with the people with the worst senses of humor, and now, I only mess with people who can take a joke.

Cuss teachers out, start praying to Allah at Noon in the middle of the class. Discriminate against Jews. (NO, I dont hate Jews... i just did this to see if i'd get into trouble).
Wore t-shirts with 'KKK' 'White Christian Knights' and '666-Worship the Devil' to laugh when teachers tried to make me take them off... and they cant cuz it's freedom of speech.
Wear hats in class cuz i said i was Muslim and must have a head covering. You know... find ways to PISS the faculty off.

hardly ever did any work and just managed to slip by getting decently average grades... but i did have friends in most of the classes though. actually, for GCSE there was a nerd-core of about 6 of us, all that same 'type' of smart kids, and we all worked together on everything - splitting worksheets and questions up between us and sharing (and explaining) the answers... we taught each other and, even better, we always ended up finishing everything early so half the time we got let out of class early :D

then i sorta stopped caring about school and my grades fell through the floor... bah :(
went from mr. headmaster's commendations, dignissimas (sp?) and racing for the most merits in the year to being a uncaring stoner, to being a uni drop out in only a few years :headbang:

Emo! Emo's are hot as. (drools)
I was a sorta Emo-Goth.
I scared the other emo's because they Half-Heartedly hated chavs and i like Dark-Lord hated them (Black hood up, Black glove on)
"They arnt that ba-UUUURK!"
"I find your lack of faith disturbing..."
Plus i led several groups of people and was very popular in the circles but outside i was considered scum :) so i fit the "Future Dictator" Stereotype :D
My history teacher picked on me for being communist.
My english teacher picked on me because my vocabulary was bigger than hers.
My IT teacher picked on me and all the Emo's because she was a chav maysheburninhell.
My RE teacher picked on me because i was an Anti-Theist.
I'll show them tho... i'll lock them in the school and ....WHOOMPF....

In highschool I was nothing. To mean that I didn't fit into any clique. I had a lot of skater, band nerd, computer nerd, jock, druggy, scenester (they all seemed to be younger for some reason and only girls...the guys in those groups just pissed me off), and a few 'ghetto' kids as friends. I would probably label myself as a nerd that could party though. I mean classes were easy as shit and I played a lot of video games during the week. But the weekends were parties and frisbee golf (when not working that is).

I'm the guy to see if you're in trouble. I'm known for going out of my may to make other people happy or help them, at great expense to myself at times. I guess I would be considered unpopular by the general male population, but then again I think they all suck (for various reasons) so we're square. In terms of stereotypes, I'm the weirdo. I'm well known for wearing contradicting outfits consisting mainly of army surplus and tie-dye T-shirts and I've been refered to as "A Walking Draft Riot" because of my wicked pro-military views. I live by the philosophy "You stay on your side, I'll stay on mine" I've got my group of friends and pretty much everyone else can go ahead and eat me.

I don't know if I fit any stereotypes. I was that girl that was busy doing everything and barely had time to sleep. Top of my class, but wasn't really a nerd. Sports (alright, just one sport - swimming) consumed my life for much of the year, but I wasn't really a jock. Did all the extracurriculars and volunteer work, got along with both teachers and fellow students, went out on weekends (when I wasn't swimming), paid attention in class and still did all the homework.

So what does that make me? I don't know, but I had a lot of fun doing it. :)
