Old Pictures

What do you do with old pictures you don't think you want anymore?

I'm considering deleting the pictures I have of my ex, but we're still kinda friends so it's not like we hate each other or anything... Should I create a different folder to put them all in so I don't have to look at them everytime I open my pictures folder?

Don't delete them. Keep them in a folder somewhere so you don't stumble across them but can retrieve them when you feel like it. Like, say, 10 years from now. ;)

Oh-kay... I have to admit that this is not something I normally spend much time contemplating. If you don't want them on your hard drive any more but are unsusre if you might want to look at them again in the future, just burn them on a CD.

just brun them on a CD.
Yeah, Cabra's right, CD is much better than just a folder.

Burn them on a CD?! No, just burn them. They are taking up precious hard drive space. Print them out and throw them in the fire.

Ok, that's a plan.

I thought you meant old as in black-and-white with your grandma's family's ugly faces. I would say keep them either way. You'll regret it if you destroy them.

Well, technically his grandma's family is his too. But i'd keep them, blackmail later possibly?

I would store them online on somebody else's server and then delete them, or you know do the CD thing, either way.......

at the rate hard drives are expanding, i'm not sure there is such a thing as 'precious' space anymore.

keep 'em. seperate them somehow for the moment, but it'll be nice to stumble across them several years in the future

Hmm...I'd keep em. If they are printed pictures, I'd just put em in a box and put them in my attic. If they were on my comp, I'd burn em on a CD and put that CD in a box and then I mail that box to myself and then I'd SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER!

Oh wait. Wrong thing. I'd burn it, then put it with those other pictures. Who knows? Maybe you'll want them later on.

He he. I was going to say "just put them in a shoe box and store them somewhere out of the way."

I'm old :)

we could metaphorically modernize that idea though. just make a folder on the hd somewhere called 'the attic' and use it to store old papers and such as well as a folder called 'a shoebox' to put the pictures in.

Well, the digital pictures are on a cd now, I'll have to sort through the actual pictures I have and see if there are any of him and put them all together.

I think Cabra is right about the CD, good idea. As far as the other pictures, they are still a part of your life, whatever you do make sure you dont burn them or ruin them in some manner. By the way, there should be more pictures of Dakini on here.... just my thoughts... (evil grin)

I'll bet there's some people out there under 20 who hardly own any actual photographs.. I hope they back up their hard drives regularly.. :p

As for me, I keep my photos in a lockbox.. I've only got a hundred or so, spanning 20 years.. useless photos, I burn or throw away.

When you say lockbox, you mean air tight?? So they don't yellow? just curious, I am told there are alot of good ways of storing photos to avoid discoloration.

Nah, just a steel box with a lock on it.. it's over 100 years old, and definitely not air-tight..

My dad's old photos sat in a dilapidated cardboard box in the garage for 30 years and still look pretty good though, so I'm not too worried about discoloration.. I can fix that in photoshop if I really have to. (And who knows how far the technology will go in the next 30 years..)
