Let me tell you why my son is so smart!

Federal IRS Auditors
05-02-2006, 16:05
He was asleep last night and I crept into his room like I always do (I'm an IRS auditor, for God's sake!) and checked his computer history. As usual he's gone to another 37 different gay porn sites, but I don't mind.

So I look on his desk and see some paper and look a little harder -- it's an SAT pre-calculus review sheet!

Now, being a man of superior mathematical intellect, I reviewed my son's answers. They were all right!

Here's a couple:

"There are 3 routes from city A to city B. 4 routes from city B to city C. And 3 routes from city C to city D. If a driver must pass through city B and C exactly once, how many possible ways are there go get from city A to city D!?"

My son, CORRECTLY, answered E. 36.

"*Insert number line here* ( - infinity, -1] U [1, + infinity) is the domain of the line. Which of the following expressions describes the indicated values on the number line?"

Again, my son, CORRECTLY, answered D. |x| > 1 ... Well, it was greater than or equal to as the answer but I don't know how to type that!

"When the positive integer p is divided by 7, the remainder is 5. What is the remainder when 5p is divided by 7?"

Finally, my son, my proud loving child, correctly answered E. 4!

I have a similar problem, actually. I am in the process of digging a tunnel system that extends from my house to various points of interest. I don't want them to see me when I go outside. Of course, the aluminum over the windows and tin foil hat are necessities -- everybody should have them, not only those who are paranoid. But password-protecting your computer? That's for real wackos.

If you password-protect your computer, you are assuming that someone (your parent) will want to gain access to your computer and will be prevented from doing so by the password. So:

Any parent who wants to look at their son's computer is paranoid.
Any such parant who is prevented from looking at their son's computer will become even more paranoid.
If that parent gains access to their son's computer and sees that their son has deleted their browser history will become ultra-paranoid.

Or:

The parent is not paranoid, in which case their son is.

In either case, you should not password-protect your computer as no good will come of it.

If you want to know what pages your son has been visiting, ask him.
Everything else is a display of mistrust, overprotectiveness, and, as you said, paranoia. In the place of the son, I wouldn't want my paranoid father spying on my private life or even trying to control me.

It's been a long time since I've taken pre-calc; but from what I remember, I recall sin/cos/tan, parabolas, hyperbolas, etc. And looking at this sheet, I don't see it -- thus, I'd say that the excercises on this worksheet are decidely not pre-calc.

The series of safes obviously offer no additional protection. If someone finds the first key, he/she can open all the boxes. Nonetheless, it is not unnecessary. A paranoid person will get frustrated opening box after box only to find that the last one contains nothing. Thus, it is a great anti-paranoid device. Good idea.

If the kid is a minor, he should not be allowed access to porn.
Nor should that type of behavior be condoned by silence from the parent.

Dad is okay with it?

Sure, lets teach our kids:
That it is okay to break the law, even minor ones that no one knows about.
That material of a mature nature is okay for minors.

Sorry just cant get myself to be light-hearted about it. I am a single father of 4, ranging from age 14 down to age 5. I love them, and have too much respect for them and their well-being as youths to allow that.

Once they are 18 they can view what they have a desire to view, but most definitely not while they are so young.

well, we already know you are lying about being an auditor, so why would we believe you about this?

It's not like calculus is that hard anyway. Besides, I doubt that if your son is very bright letting you have access to his computer if he is browsing gay porn. My 4 year old knows how to clean up her computer and how to password protect her login............

One of the children of one of the maths teachers at school put passwords on the user accounts on his computer, so only she could access them XD

She was about 4 :D

Nah, really he's just getting off on his kid's porn, and too stupid to know how to answer those questions himself, so he's so proud of his kid for helping him find porn sites and for being smarter than his idiot father.

so your son is sleeping and you go in his room? and he doesn't wake up from the sound of his computer?
and if you don't mind that your son is looking at gay porn, why do you check his computer? to see if he wasn't evading taxes?

No, that's actually pretty cool. You should also get a retinal-scan one. Your parents can easily acquire your fingerprints.

Parents can also easily get your eyes *twilight zone music*
*thinks to a scene from minority report; and music disrupted by a bang on a piano*

yeah, you think about that.

On topic, you brag too much. We don't care.

He was asleep last night and I crept into his room like I always do (I'm an IRS auditor, for God's sake!) and checked his computer history.

I feel sorry for him, with a butt-sniffing parent like that. GOD! How the f*ck can he trust you? *ech*

How old is your son? And what sites did he visit? :p

I remember a little lemonparty.org, and the rest were mostly google hits for :

"Gay ****suckers"

"Anal Adventures"

"Prostate Patrol"

"Colon Colonizers"

"Rectal Riders"

etc., etc.

He's 15.

Parents can also easily get your eyes

There was a case like that a couple of years ago. A father saw his kid looking at porn, and carved out one of his eyes as punishment.

Those doesn't sound like the best websites around. Your son needs to do some serious researching :D

Too bad, he's too young for me. I'm looking for a smart boyfriend, but under 20 just doesn't cut it.

That's definitely not pre-calculus. Pre-calculus is trigonometry, conic sections, polar coordinates...
Besides, I'm taking calculus now. And I can assure you that knowing how to interpret unions or intersections of sets is hardly related. As for basic multiplication/division, I suppose you could call it "pre-calculus," although I would personally add a few more pre's on there.

It's been a long time since I've taken pre-calc; but from what I remember, I recall sin/cos/tan, parabolas, hyperbolas, etc. And looking at this sheet, I don't see it -- thus, I'd say that the excercises on this worksheet are decidely not pre-calc.

Is that Precalculus in the "special" school? The basics of the first three trig functions and the equations of the basic types of graphs are algebra I/II stuff.

Not if his parents check his history...

Pfft, standards. I'm not fussy :D

Of course, it wouldn't be quite as illegal for me.
