Your idea is truly fascinating. hehe. It equates to calling someone a dick.. but it's not the same thing at all. Tool.. a push-over, a spineless.. yeah.. lump of matter. *yeah!*

Tool is as the word suggests "something that you use"

It is a person that is easily used by others.
"He is such a tool"

A toolbag or box is an extreme version of a "tool" Basically he is used for many purposes and or by many people.

A lot of socialist punk listeners/rockers, though not me, call rich buisnessmen tools, because they are tools of the capitalistic society.

yeah, pretty much. A toolbag could be alone too...so if I saw a guy whom I didn't like, I might call him a toolbag, despite not having anyone else around. Basicly, just saying he's a jerk and I really dislike him.

"that guy in the pink polo shirt with the 2 popped collars is such a toolbag"
"that guy in the pink polo shirt with the 2 popped collars is such a tool"
both work.
