I've been looking at a Armscor 1911. Actually at several. The Eastman gun show is in town and one of the vendors has quite a display of these $300 gems.

I've looked at the usual forums for opinions and all I can find are favorable reviews. There are a couple folks that warn you about cheap Filipino construction, but the real thing just doesn't look that bad.

Is this really the bargain that it seems? I just find it hard to believe that these are as good as they seem. Find me a bad review, because I can't.

Any of you guys awake, yet?

Well, I've heard good things too.. but only from the same sources you've probably already checked out.. nothing from personal experience..

I guess it's worth risking the $300. Folks on 1911.org seem to love them, as do the regulars on thehighroad.org. All that's left is to buy one and form my own opinion.

On a side note, I did see a Colt Commander that had the worst finish I've ever seen on an American-made weapon. The metal around the stamped characters was still bulged out and the stamp itself wasn't very clean. I asked the vendor if it was a knock-off and I guess that insulted him
