Pancakes and Prayers

GoodThoughts

Sunday morning you are all invited to my house for pancakes and prayers. This is my families sometimes bi-monthly, every once-in-awhile event to take a moment out of our busy lives and invite friend and stranger into out home and try to live life as if hatred and strive don't exist. All are welcome. Some of you may need to hire a jet to make here in time. There is a airport in town that you can land at. We will say some prayers for our dear friend Zooke. Hope to see all there. If you can't make it you can just pretend you are there. The pancakes don't taste as good that way but it is better than nothing.

I will start it off with a little prayer.

O Thou kind Lord! We are servants of Thy Threshold, taking shelter at Thy holy Door. We seek no refuge save only this strong pillar, turn nowhere for a haven but unto Thy safekeeping. Protect us, bless us, support us, make us such that we shall love but Thy good pleasure, utter only Thy praise, follow only the pathway of truth, that we may become rich enough to dispense with all save Thee, and receive our gifts from the sea of Thy beneficence, that we may ever strive to exalt Thy Cause and to spread Thy sweet savors far and wide, that we may become oblivious of self and occupied only with Thee, and disown all else and be caught up in Thee.

O Thou Provider, O Thou Forgiver! Grant us Thy grace and loving-kindness, Thy gifts and Thy bestowals, and sustain us, that we may attain our *23* goal. Thou art the Powerful, the Able, the Knower, the Seer; and, verily, Thou art the Generous, and, verily, Thou art the All-Merciful, and, verily, Thou art the Ever-Forgiving, He to Whom repentance is due, He Who forgiveth even the most grievous of sins.

Another "copy&paste prayers" thread?

Please, if you must spam, don't repeat yourself in this most uninspired fashion, and stop using Zooke as an excuse for it, for heaven's sake. That latter thing brings shame and disrepute upon you.

I'll Come For The Pancakes. Not For The Prayers.

My sister-in-law who will be joining us makes very good pancakes. You will not be disapointed and you do not need to pray. I will expect you at 10:00.;)

I'm not flying all the way to Minnessota for pancakes and prayers. And since I won't pray (and there's no need to) that takes out half the reason to be there.

You can send the pancakes by mail, though :)

Make it express delivery, maybe they'll be here by the time the big game is on.

I'd come but there are two major problems:

1) The distance
2) Waking up at 10:00a.m. on a Sunday

Just pretend you woke up at 10 on a Sunday. I won't tell anyone you didn't make.

I don't mind prayers. Eh so it's a ritual that uses some time up. Not all that harmful in fact may even be very helpful.

This reminds me though. When I think on the idea of strong belief = being a jerk. I was lucky enough to be invited to the thanksgiving diner while I was in Texas. It was a family with very strong religious beliefs and yet they where not jerks at all. Very loving and accepting they where and I find it hard to immagine them with pitch forks and torches although I could be wrong.
