So do you go for the imports? Or are you the "get as much as humanly possible of whatever taste, texture, color, and form" type?

I've recently been picking on Warsteiner Premium German Verum. Really tasty and smooth. And it better be for $1.25/12 Fl. oz. (US) :D

I am an Ale drinker in the Heat, I like stouts with food, I hate American Pilsners.

Typically I will drink Harp, The Big Irish 'G', Mcewan's, New Castle, Murphy's, I will choke down a Bass.

I have enjoyed some wonderful American Cream Ales, these were all microbrews--Sebastians Cream Ale from TN being one--absolutely delicious one.

I have expensive taste.

Luckily for me a world Market just opened by my house, and they let you build your own Sixers so I will be sampling all the German, and Belgian beers I have yet to taste.

Guiness and Heinekin, and Bud when I watch NASCAR, but thats only for Dale Junior's sake. It doesn't taste great, and light beer is the spawn of satin. I cant stand light beer. Still, Guiness and Heinekin are the best beers.

I have to agree on the Warsteiner...good beer.

And NERVUN, if you are wine drinker, try the Chimays, any of them They are great beers that come in a 750ml bottle. You will want them out of a wine glass.

Anything Anchor Brewing makes, but my favorite is still Anchor Steam. It's a shame I have to actually buy it now. When I worked there, we could drink all we wanted in the tap room and got a free case every week.

My favourite local brews are Coopers, either the Pale Ale:

http://www.coopers.com.au/beer.php?id=128&pid=1

Or the Sparkling Ale:

For a cheapie, I drink VB. Nothing spectacular, but decent flavour & easy to drink:

Maybe so, but Newcastle is still better than about 90% of what passes for beer in the US. I'd rather have that than a Coors Light, for instance. Of course, I'd just about rather have an enema than have a Coors Light.

Probably. I've never felt the need to actually try coors light. That godawful can should be enough to scare any normal person away.

I often wonder though when I watch people forking over insane amounts of money for 'dog' in manhattan, then describing what a 'high quality' beer it is, if I should start importing LCL Pils. There has to be money to be made from that.

Speaking as an American, any beer sold in mass commercial outlets....is crap.

Budweiser, Coors, Busch...etc...all watered down piss.

However, this goes for any Canadian, or European equivalents as well.

Small, independantly owned micro-brewers, or local brewers are the way to go.
The best beer in America, comes from these.

Not in any particular order...

Hoegaarden
Kriek, Mort Subite (though not Bellevue)
Floris Pomme
Leffe (both)

wait, let me go check the cellar.

Duvel
Affligem

And probably a few more that I can't remember.

oh yeah, Carlsberg.

Whoever said Chimay was a german beer, I think you're horribly wrong. I do believe that it is most definitely a belgian beer.

i especially like Duvel, i used to drink it almost every day. but i also like other belgian stronger beer like Leffe (blond), Kasteelbier (dark), Affligem, Grimbergen.

i almost never drink lager (i think it is called lager, but that is just guessing) but when i do i prefer stella artois or jupiler, but they are only good in summer.

i also like Mort Subite geuze, it tastes sourish and is also really refreshing.
