Anybody else here like poker?

I learned at my Nana's knee - she was an excellent player, and the skills I learned have served me well.

mememememe!!

i also grew up playing poker. mostly stupid 7 card stud games (no-peek baseball, deuces-jacks-man-with-the-ax, low-hold, etc)

now i play alot of online texas hold'em. you can get a pretty good game for play money if you dont like to trust some outfit headquartered in the carribean to hold your money for you.

i would love it if there were a nationstates poker group!

I find Pacificpoker.com is best for play money - too scared to part with REAL money until I get a bit better

I love to play on occasion, but I'm not a "serious" poker-player.

I play with friends the odd time, and occasionally on the crap poker machines in pubs. I usually do alright with friends, but the machines are a complete take on! I thinking of trying online poker when I've got a bit more money to burn.

playing cards is evil and sinful, and again' my religion. So I play stud with 5 cards! :)

it really is best to start with play money in online poker. you can burn through your cash pretty quickly

different sites even have "freeroll" tournaments where you can win real money without having to pay to get into the game.

I was just reading an article on online poker and casinos, I actually didn't know before it that the sites allowed to have "trial" goes first. I'll certainly give that a whirl then before playing with real money. Thanks for the "freeroll" tip as well.

we played poker a lot when I was a kid, Blackjack, Texas Hold 'em, 5 card draw, 5 card stud, second hand high, ect.

I am teaching my 4 year old how to play 5 card draw, I figure it's educational, you know learning to group suits, learning strategy, odds, ect. (or, I get bored around 2 in the afternoon and want to play)

She is also learnin Rummy, it's helping her with her math a lot more than dominos did. ;)
