I think you shouldnt watch so much network news.
Fox News, in particular.
If the bubonic plague didnt wipe out humanity, with its several tries, the Bird Flu isnt going to.
As for the President of Iran, hes not the first tinpot dictator of some third world crackpot nation to make threatening gestures, and rattle his sword.
Hes simply the current one.

http://www.catholic-pages.com/grabbag/malachy.asp
the final three popes on st. malachy's list:
266 John Paul II (1978-2005) 110 De labore Solis
(of the eclipse of the sun, or from the labour of the sun)
Hist.: Karol Wojtyla was born on May 18, 1920 during a solar eclipse. He also comes from behind the former Iron Curtain (the East, where the Sun rises). He might also be seen to be the fruit of the intercession of the Woman Clothed with the Sun labouring in Revelation 12 (because of his devotion to the Virgin Mary). His Funeral occurred on 8 April, 2005 when there was a solar eclipse visible in the Americas.
267 Benedict XVI (2005-) 111 Gloria olivæ
The Benedictine order traditionally said this Pope would come from their order, since a branch of the Benedictine order is called the Olivetans. St Benedict is said to have prophesied that before the end of the world, a member of his order would be Pope and would triumphantly lead the Church in its fight against evil. While the Holy Father chose the name "Benedict", this does not seem enough to fulfil the prophecy. Nor is it clear how Benedict XVI (a Bavarian) is "Glory of the Olives". Since he is said to have remarked in the Conclave after saying he would take the name Benedict that it was partly to honour Benedict XV, a pope of peace and reconciliation, perhaps Benedict XVI will be a peacemaker in the Church or in the World, and thus carry the olive branch.
FINAL:In persecutione extrema S.R.E. sedebit Petrus Romanus, qui pascet oves in multis tribulationibus: quibus transactis civitas septicollis diruetur, & Judex tremêdus judicabit populum suum. Finis.
(In extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations, at the term of which the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the formidable Judge will judge his people. The End.)

In the hundreds of wars and exterminations that went on in the 2000 years since this carpenter died and the revelations were written?

Revelation 3:3

Matthew 25:13
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."
Mark 13:31-33
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is."
Luke 12:39-40

No, as it happens, although there was one in 1666 I've heard of ;)
Although it doesn't seem that too many people died in that (certainly not enough to put it in the league of the worst natural disasters. although it wasn't really a natural disaster anyway)
Do not fear the coming of the end, and do not allow those who prophess it to twist your spirit to their own ends, for we cannot know the true source of their power. The End is always upon us, and we should not fear its result on us, but rather concern ourselves with our response to it.

Damn... I knew I should have double-checked that number. Anyway, it was just before that London was struck by a devastating outbreak of the bubonic Plague, killing thousands, in 1665. And people more or less reacted the same way as our young friend here. Quoting the bible and panicing.

Don't be. If it comes, do something about it. This is how we always live our lives; we meet the future head on and respond to it. Paralysis out of fear is submission to our fate. If you are nervous, the best response is to overcome that worry and take what comes in your stride, and the best way to do that is to realise that our fear is all that makes the future so frightening.

Or perhaps War, Famine and Pesilence are all aspects...Archetypes even, of the human condition. Their presence throughout our history has shaped us, and that's one thing Religion does well. Raises to the level of reverence the crises of the past. Eternal truths about man and his strange and curious mind are made more stark and aparent when cast in the light of legend. I wish people would concentrate on THOSE aspects of ALL Religions, rather than agnonizing literal interpretations.
Actually, mankind is MUCH better off than it used to be in the famine and pestilence categories. Obviously the 3rd world lags a bit behind...moving on.
Baiscally, the requirements for THE END TIMES have persisted throught man's entire existance. We're naughty critters.

You're ruining it. :( Nay heathen, we shall not pay heed to your nay-saying...(especially when it gets in the way of ours :p)

Which is not to say you can't have good days below ground, too
As long as you have marshallows and other tidbits you can poke up through holes in the cover of your bomb shelter so that you can use the nuclear blast to toast them.

each day, the president of Iran is acting like the pale horse (the one that brings wars, death and destruction)

i might just be a little too paranoid, but im afraid we are seeing the final days:eek:
however, dont take my word for it. after all, im only human
We're all only human, we'll do what we can and we'll all beleive ourselves with the hidden acknowledgement of our "human" limitations. But I think it's kind of irrelevant to bring that to the forefront and use it to discount yourself. There definately is some bad stuff going down and we are in for VERY tough times ahead, with the oil peak and the flu and all.
Also, if you are serious about this your little smiley at the end there truly pisses me off.

let's see...
War: Check
Disease: Check
Starvation: Check
Death: Check
ok, we're focked...
Well if that's all it takes, we've been fucked since the first humans evolved. There has never been a time when mankind was free of those four things.

this also freaks me out
http://www.catholic-pages.com/grabbag/malachy.asp
the final three popes on st. malachy's list:
The End.)
By reading a little history, you'll see there isn't a society on the planet that hasn't had its prophets, and they can always point to examples of how those prophecies were fulfilled.
Man is always looking for answers to things he doesn't understand. Contemporary America is no different in that regard than India in 1500 BCE, or Mexico in 1400 CE.
If you're going to freak out about broadly described prophecies made hundreds of years ago, and that countless people before you have believed were about to be fulfilled in their eras, I recommend a visit to your doctor and a prescription for Lexapro.

Pat is probably wondering why he was Left Behind...
Unsurprisingly enough, no one else wonders that about him....
Someone should start a letterwriting campaign to his ministry, informing him that the Rapture actually happened five years ago, but telling him how sorry we all are that he missed it....

I'm probably a lot older than you... but anyway at one time I believed in the "end of days" as a prophecy that would one day be fulfilled, ... I no longer share that.
I grew up during the cold war and the USSR, Chairman Mao, the Nuclear War seemed a lot more imminent and dangerous than the country of Iran does to me.
The Human Spirit will in fact conquer these challenges.
