I'm pretty much avoiding TV, except the odd documentary on Discovery Science or similar, until the new series of 24 comes to Sky One next Sunday. Aside from those things, there's pretty much damn all on the box that remotely interests me. In the meantime, DVDs of The West Wing, Blackadder, Monty Python, Black Books etc will come in handy.

In this one, people who get voted off go to a different island, and search for an idol that - if they find it - would let them back into the game.
Also there are 4 tribes: old men, young men, old women, and young women.
Should be very interesting with these new dynamics.

*edit* found this
The other day, Billy 'Fry' West posted on his message board that he got a call, saying that production for up to four Futurama DVD movies will start around July or August:
[The] Futurama project is a done deal! [...] There are 4 DVD movies that we'll start recording at the end of July or August. Full feature length FUTURAMA movies. Everybody is excited to get back together--as I am!
Into the Future,
Billy
We tried to verify this post with sources close to the show and ... didn't get a denial. That's way more than what we got before!
Since FOX didn't go public about this yet, there might of course be last minute reversals. Expect more info here soon.
In context of our last update: This is purely about DVDs for now. Peter Liguori and the FBC are responsible for the TV part of FOX.

I have to admit I liked Catherine's song. Partly for the fact I had no idea there were songs in the film and it took me completely by surprise, it was also fun.
What was up with Suzon having Marcel's baby though? IT was mentioned, then forgotten... You'd think something like that would cause a stir.
It's been a while, but IIRC no one else knew about it till Catherine's final summing, where she used it as another nail in the coffin.
Though it has been a while since I have seen so I may be horribly confused.

That must suck indeed. I'm always complaining that it takes years for most shows to be shown here, plus we only get them dubbed, but I think that's actually almost better than that crazy scheduling you guys have going on, what with sweeps, and random mid-season repeats, and "will it get picked up or not and if yes then for how many episodes?". Would drive me crazy.

Would drive me crazy.
where are you? I would be so sad if I had to wait years for shows, once they start do they go pretty steady? what do your seasons work like?
I am so curious..........yeah, the seasons here suck, we get maybe 20 new episodes a year of a weekly show and there are 52 weeks in the year, our summer gets filled with reality crap (which they now show "in season" to make up for not having enough episodes) things get bumped to weird times (like 4am on Sundays) for sports and crap, and then at the end of every season I have to wonder if my show is coming back or not, and it's like 3-4 months between the finale and the premier, so I spend 4 months trying to remember what happened (which is uber annoying with shows like Smallville and Gilmore) and just when a show starts getting good then they cancel it, but leave crap on for years and years and I can't figure out why (like Will & Grace  )

it's reality crap, and it's messing up my season.............I had to reset my DVR:mad:
it's bad enough that they are showing basket ball when Gilmore is on, so I have to remember to set my DVR to record Saturday nights sporadically........I am getting tired of the WB:(
Oh, that's not good and I can totally understand you now.
Last Tuesday they showed the Gilmore Girls episode where Lorelai and Luke break up - can't wait till next week to see what's gonna happen (and HUSH! I don't want any information on how things work out!!!).

that was an emotional episode for me, I cried, I waited so long for them to get together and then that happened, it was about a month before they showed what happened, I was depressed the whole time..............sometimes I think I am too into Gimore, but what can I say? it's an awesome show.......and no I won't tell you what happens;)

Germany :D
The good thing is, when we wait one or two years before the show gets aired, we have 40 shows to put into 52 weeks.
But it's not all good: Before airing the new season, they re-run all of the old ones. That was especially annoying with Buffy because I knew all of the old stuff pretty much by heart...
On the other hand: They show Gilmore Girls every afternoon right now, followed by the brand new (well, here it is) Everwood. Meh, I wish I wouldn't have to sleep at all and could watch TV on multiple screens without going crazy.
To prevent that, I'll have to go to bed now for it's 03:41 and I'm tired!

I was stunned (although partly prepared when they previewed what was gonna happen this week. But - without the crying part - I totally felt with them. After hoping for so long that Luke and Lorelai would finally get together!
Last thought for the night (and hoping for goody-good dreams):
I'd have a hard time deciding which of the two GGs is hotter: Lorelai or Rory?!? After all, I probably would have to settle with BOTH! :p

Heh, if this isn't the place to rant about TV, what is it? So, here goes mine :D:
I'm in Germany, and I exaggerated a little bit there, though there are many shows that take years to come here - like Everwood, which started in the US in 2002, and here maybe a couple months ago.
But they're getting better - this year (well, 2005) we actually got both Lost and Desperate Housewives while the first seasons weren't even finished in the US!
Of course, the more up-to-date our TV gets regarding such shows, the more they start pulling the same crap the US channels already do. Like with Lost: they started showing it really quickly, and then, in the middle of the freaking season, they just stopped. It was summer, and I guess they decided they needed the same summer break the US has - except of course for you guys summer doesn't fall in the middle of the season, because you started earlier... So they started showing reruns of the first 13 episodes for like 2 weeks. And then they stopped because nobody was watching. Duh. I could have told them that.
Apart from the basic suckage of having to wait for a show and of only getting to see it dubbed, it's a mixed bag really. Some things are cool - like the fact that we got the first 4 seasons of Gilmore Girls not on a weekly, but on a daily basis! They put a lot of shows like that into the afternoon slots and show them every weekday. So that's pretty cool. (Now, for the 5th season, they have upgraded Gilmore Girls to weekly prime time because apparently the ratings were so good). Everwood is on in the afternoons, too. I love Everwood. And I have a terrible crush on Ephram, who's like half my age :p.
We had to wait over a year for new episodes of Six Feet Under, which only started again last month. I don't even know in which season we are. But we do have the advantage that we get all the HBO shows (well, the ones we do get at all) on "regular" TV, so no paying. Sex and the City was the same.
For me, the worst is actually that I'm on the internet that much and you can't really avoid reading about who will die next on Lost, or how Six Feet Under ends (I'm totally keeping mum here, though; wouldn't want to spoil it for German Nightmare ;)).
So I'm always the one who knows like a year in advance that so-and-so isn't going to make it. Especially with Lost, that sucks big time.

Friday night channel hopping againFriday night used to be my night for sitting in and watching comedy on Channel 4. They had Frasier, Father Ted and Black Books, among others. Now I see they have Will and Grace, a program I despise, so these days I just go out :) However, there's something on tonight called The IT Crowd, which was written by Graham Linehan (who also penned Father Ted and Black Books), so I may think about recording it to see if it's any good.

Tamahori arrested in US for prostitution
03.02.06 4.35pm
New Zealand director Lee Tamahori has been arrested for prostitution.
The 55-year-old was picked up during a police prostitution sting on Hollywood's Santa Monica Boulevard on January 8.
Tamahori was arraigned in a Los Angeles court today and officially charged with soliciting.
Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Officer Jason Lee says the director was dressed as a woman, and approached an undercover policeman. He says he bailed himself two hours after his arrest and booking.
Lee Tamahori directed the New Zealand box office hit Once Were Warriors, and more recently the James Bond movie Die Another Day starring Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry.
