i feel bad for these two fish i got. i felt kinda bad for them because they were in these tiny bags so i bought 2 for 12 bucks (a huuuge ripoff)

well, now i have them and i dont really know what to do with them. im not allowed to have fish in my dorm so i cant buy them any big fishbowls. if the ra caught me, id have to flush em.

one is tiny, and the other is about regular sized. should i put them together so they dont get lonely or should i not in case the big one steals the little one's food

Just get one of those 2 gallon fishbowls, and hope for the best.

Chance it and buy a decent sized bowl. Then remember to think these things through in future.

Or release them into the wild :p

Look around. there are those vases that the bottom half is a fishbowl. put the two together and use one of those. the top half is a plant that uses the water, and the fish feed off of the alge and roots of the plant. perfect system.

then cover the outside with stickers and decals to help obscure the fish. from outside, you got a vase with plants, if he looks closely, then just say you didn't know there were fish inside.

Alot of fish shops will purchase "unwanted" fish, or at least take them off your hands for free. Make some calls, if you don't want to chance it with a bowl.

BTW: Why are you not allowed to have a fishbowl in your room? Most dorms allow fish, but no other pets.

nope, none of the ones I've seen haven't and they had em for years with fighting fish inside (and they need lots of oxygen)

How to Change Some Water in your Fish Bowl.
Twice a week pour out 20%, not all, of the water from your fish bowl. Be careful not to pour any fish down the drain. Use bottled drinking water to refill your fish bowl. Don’t fill it higher than 2” from the top of the bowl. What to do with the old water? It's very good for plants.

I filled my 1.5 gallon fish bowl about 3" from the top. Then I slowly poured some of the water into a measuring cup, noted how many ounces were in the measuring cup, and continued pouring the water into a measuring cup, until I'd measured all the water, and added up the total. It came to 160 ounces, and 20% of 160 ounces is 32 ounces.

Then I realized that my 1.5 gallon fish bowl had about 1 quart of air at the top plus 5 quarts of water (5 quarts x 32 ounces-per-quart = 160 ounces total) and 20% of 5 quarts of water is 1 quart of water. So in my case it was easy to do the math.

I was just lucky, but if your bowl has 151 ounces of water, or some other unlucky number. You'd still multiply by 20% to find out how much to change each week. In this case 151 x 20% = 151 x 0.20 = 30.2 ounces, rounded down slightly to about 30 ounces.

Making Bottled Water. When you’ve used all the bottled water, you can make more safe water for your fish bowl by filling the empty plastic water bottle with tap water from the faucet. Leave 2” of empty space at the top of the bottle.
Add five drops of water conditioner, put the cap back on the bottle tightly, give the bottle a good shake to mix the ingredients, and then let the bottle sit for three days before adding the water to your fish bowl. Click here for more about water conditioner. From the web site.

Is there anyone who can give them a home without having dorm-nazis harrass them?

You are to be highly commended for your compassion for other living things. It's the mark of a truly good person, IMHO. :fluffle:

Do it twice as often but only do half the water, I.e, siphon off half the water and replace it with clean stuff.

How did you put them together?
usually the method is to hang the bags in the water to get the fish accustomed to the temp. of the water, then slowly let them swim out. takeing one out and dumping it in another body of water is a huge shock to their system.

or so I was told.

$12? You got ripped off. They look like feeder goldfish to me. My advice, get an oscar or a piranha. You've already bought the food.
