TV Parental Controls; The Martin King blocker.

The odd one

with all these 'parental control' things becoming more widely available, isn't it time we started looking into not only sheilding kids from seeing porn, horror or whatever, but also to defend ourselves from the agony of annoying weathermen, and so on?:D

What about idiotic commercials? I'd like something to block those out. The weathermen, I can handle. :P

it was actually an annoying ad that got me thinking about this in the first place.

i agree with that point of view more every week, right now i can just about sit still for one consecutive hour of tv. that is unless i'm particularly tired/drunk/stoned.

Since I don't watch TV, if I watched TV I'd think:
parental control sounds like, "No more fun in this house!"

Or get BBC.

Decent programmes for no adverts. (Aside from the National Lottery, damn thing).

thast won't stop the weatherman from wishing some kid in the arse-end of the country a happy birthday in the middle of the forecast.

The "birthday wish" would be the only valuable information in the forcast anyway.

Have you ever tried simply turning off the TV, sitting down with your children, and hitting them?

Honestly though, if you don't want to watch an annoying weatherman, don't. Wander away from the TV. Show it who's boss!

I haven't actually sat down and watched TV in over a year. The odd movie maybe (though i'll generally go to the cinema) and maybe DVDs of old TV series' (though I usually watch those on my computer now), but not "TV". I can't stand it. The ratio of ads to program is about 1:4 - on CABLE. This might be bearable if the shows themselves were good, but nope. Every time I sit down and try to find something decent to watch, I just get pissed off with another crappy sitcom or shitty reality TV show.
