If we weren't looking for signs that God exists, like the virgin mary appearing in treebark or on a piece of toast, or the kinds of images in those links, we wouldnt ever think of them as such and thus we would not ever interpret them to be what they have been taken to mean.

You know, i've often heard stories of various muslims getting beaten to death for translating the Koran. Of course, it'd be hard for english-speakers to understand any of it otherwise, unless they learnt arabic.

But to the point. I've often seen many cases where the "God helps those who helps themselves" quote comes in useful. I've also often heard how god will take care of everything and so on.

However, regardless of whether you are a believer or not (I am not really, sure, I wear a cross, was baptized and all the other rituals, but I honestly think it's more a social thing, a way to remember who is close to you, such as my godmother who is in no way related to me. Okay, enough) I find that very often, if you are a believer, and you believe that god takes care of stuff, how do you know that he doesn't do it through you? And if you aren't, then if you want something done... it's usually a better idea to do it yourself anyway.

My point: Regardless of belief or the existence of god, don't you find that whatever someone chooses to do, it will either be their choice to make or, in the case of a god who is making a decision, he might be acting through people who need to do this sort of thing?
