A number of posters helped me out with a problem a while back.

I thought you might like to know how things turned out for my friend who needed help.
Over the holidays he was in contact with his parents, who ended up helping out with the financial hole he was in.
When I got back, he was doing OK and was trying to decide if he should stay or go. He finally decided last week to go home. He booked a ticket for yesterday and was supposed to start settling things up - job, apartment, etc..
Saturday night, we had a going away blow out party - lotsa beer, girls, and 7 hours of karaoke. Great fun.
Yesterday, I took a sick day to help him get to the airport (I would have taken it anyway, as I have a cold and was running a fever yesterday). When I arrived at his place at the appointed time, he wasn't there. I called, and he was downtown, where he was supposed to be closing out his bank account and cell phone. He said he'd be back in about an hour and a half, and we'd pick up his bags and go. So, I went and did some shopping, had lunch, and messed around for a while. Just as I got back to his place, I got a text for HELP!
I went up, and found him with his bad knee (old injury) having given out, bags unpacked, and the apartment still a mess. This was 2:30 pm, and his flight was leaving at 7:30.
I helped him clean and pack as best we could over the next three hours, and kept telling him we had to go. Finally, at 5:30 he agreed. Leaving me some cash to pay off his final utility bills and his room key.
We dragged all his bags to the train station, and caught a 6 o'clock train to the airport. All the time, he's saying don't worry we'll make it!
He missed his flight, of course.
Fortunately, the airline had a flight leaving today at 1:30, and he was able to get a room at the hotel in the airport. I got him all checked in, and we went out for dinner.
Then I went home. His cell phone battery appears to have either run out (or he's ignoring several friends), as he hasn't answered several queries.
This morning, one of our Japanese friends called me up, and asked if I knew anything about his room key. It turns out the guy he was sub-letting from hadn't known he was leaving. He also hadn't got the gas or water shut off. I'll be meeting up with him later today.
Anyways, I just called the airport, and it appears my friend is checked in on a 4:55 flight (one with one less transfer than the 1:30).
BleH! What a weekend/week. I'm so glad I have today off!
