The Perfect Guy

I'm too tired for the political threads and don't know any good knock knock jokes. So what better than to rip off yesterday's The Perfect Girl thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=466054&highlight=perfect+girl)? Exactly.

Considering this forum is about two thirds straight males, this might even be instructive. :p

So, what makes a guy perfect in your eyes?
And - to stay true to the original - what do you guys think makes you perfect boyfriend material?

I'd say:

Must have/be:
- intelligent
- ready wit & self-deprecating sense of humor
- a "good person", i.e. no mean, jerky, asshole tendencies
- politically left-leaning
- sharing my love for & taste in movies (okay, that one's negotiable. But not by much.)

Since we are talking perfect, here's the shallow part:
- nice, longish hair, preferably dark blond; preferably with green, grey, or blue eyes
- Good nose. Think Adrien Brody, just - less. :D
- Sexy forearms. Veined, little hair. (What?)
Of course, the only fling I ever had that actually looked like that, had none of the important qualities and thus stayed just that - a fling. :p

Me, pretty much.

Oh, what makes me good boyfriend material?
Mmkay..
Well, I'm intelligent sometimes. I'm usually funny. Kind and caring etc etc.
Physically, I have longish dark blonde hair and blue eyes lol. My forearms are my gf's favourite thing ever heh.

she's asleep so it might be a long wait, but i have a hunch i'll end up with a smile on my face so it'll be worth it ;)

edit: what, may i ask, is your taste in movies? cos your description is pretty good for me except i like (apparently) shit movies (mostly comedies...), my arms are not veined much and my hair and eye are brown... and i have no idea about my nose :p

notice i only said "eye", singular, and i have a peg-leg too, and my nose is made of wood... now who's jealous, eh? ;) :p

that's what makes me perfect boyfriend material :D

edit: ok serious answer to that is i'm kind, i care, i listen, i'm supportive when she needs me, i'm strong for her when she needs that but i'm quite happy being "vulnerable" and open about things at other times - i basically be myself, i like talking about "us", i want to make her happy, i'm romantic in some ways, i love to surprise her, i can make her laugh, i'm intelligent and can hold intellectual discussions with her, and i have long hair which she likes. not exactly perfect (physically certainly far from it and my personality could do with a tune-up) but i don't think i'm that bad (at least she makes me believe thats the case :fluffle: )

I'd say:

I would go for these traits in a guy:
- intelligent, as well as humorous
-romantic
- well-read and educated, but also able of being shallow
- shares similar hobbies and tastes with me
- politically right-leaning
- shares similar tastes in music, movies and books
- kinky
- must like cats
- somewhat shy and introverted, yet able of communicating well with me

Looks-wise, I prefer
- 3 years older/younger than me/same age
-Blonde hair, blue or brown eyes
-My height, or a little taller
-Slim or muscular
-A bit hairy
-Well endowed :p

Hmm, this is going to be tough but I'll throw up a few random things.

Appearance:
Dark hair - probably longish
Eyes- doesn't matter, as long as they're pretty. I like long eyelashes and the combination of blue/green eyes with black hair is great. (Richard Kruspe! Yum...)
Body- Tall and not too buff, or fat. Kinda in-between. And preferably not hairy.
Nice lips, a little pout is always nice.
Hands! He'd better not have little stubby fingers.

Personality:
Intelligence.
Musicality. If he doesn't play an instrument he'd better be into music.
Leftie, preferably revolutionary leftie.
Humour, both intelligent and childish.
An interest in gender/queer issues would be welcome.

Um... there are other wualities but I'm having trouble defining them. :p

The important things:

Intellegent, but not a smart ass who insists on debating everything and always being right.
Romantic, but not sappy.
Shares many of my core values.
Shares some of my intrests but not all. I want him to expand my intrests and me his.
Kind, compassionate, and empathetic.
Masculine, but not excessively so.
Introverted. I'm into quiet and/or shy guys. Social types are ok for a fling, but I find them too exausting in the long term.
Moderate sense of humor. Clowns get on my nerves.
Short hair. Long hair is a major turn off.
Must like cats and travel.
Body hair strongly prefered, but it's not a deal breaker.
I like a wide variety of body types from skinny to pudgey, short to tall, small to large...um...endowments.
Hair color (or lack of hair on the head) isn't an issue.
Ags isn't an issue. Though my generally prefered range is 30 to 50ish. But I've gone out with guys between 21 and 60ish.

Now to be totally shallow:

If I were looking for physical perfection, it would probably be Ken Ryker (if you don't know, you probably don't want to). Perfect face, perfect body (when he doesn't wax it), and he's hung like a horse. ;)

I was supposed to be going back to bed after sending that email Huw but I thought I'd just pop on and now I have to reply to this thread!

Well, the trait to have to be the perfect guy for me is being Huw *nods*
He's the exact right mix of different sides.
He's so thoughtful, always thinking about the effect things will have on me, and doing little things that make me smile.
He's incredibly funny and can be utterly crazy and random and he manages to put me in the best moods and get me laughing, no matter what. Novatech... hehehe...:P
He's intelligent and logical (which contrasts well with my lack of logic :P) and knowledgable, as well as a generally interesting person to talk to - I can have all number of conversations with him and I enjoy each one.
He wants the relationship to work just as much as I do and puts effort into it, we agree on nearly all things about it, an example being that we both agree honesty is always best and we don't hide things or feelings from each other and discuss things openly.
We share a lot of interests, but still differ in some areas (such as some TV comedy and tabbed browsing :P) so as to keep it interesting.
He respects me and my feelings and my independence, never putting pressure on me with anything and always doing his best to try and understand me.
We share the same core beliefs which makes things easier and he has such a good heart and shows such compassion for people. He cares about the world and cares about his loved ones and it's so obvious how deeply he feels for people and he's not afraid to hide that. And, however much he may disagree, he does a great job at expressing it and making me feel loved and cared about.
He's incredibly supportive, incredibly caring and loving, never fails to help me when I need it, gives me strength and hope when I have nowhere else to look, makes me feel better about myself and my life than anyone else could, prevents me sinking back into depression and always seems to know the right things to say. He does so much for me and has had such a huge positive impact on my life.
He also is, lookswise, exactly what I like in a guy. He has gorgeous thick, long, brown hair, deep brown eyes, a great smile that makes me smile just looking at it, and a generally very attractive face (with facial hair.. mmm...). However much he hates his body I like it. I could never be doing with a slim guy - I love him being bigger than me, more sturdy and... protective. Combine that with his amazing voice and he's really sexy and incredibly good-looking. I want him! :P

I'm so happy with life right now and I've never had anyone make me feel this way. He accepts me, flaws and all, and loves me unconditionally.

I adore everything about him. I don't know what else I could want from a guy and I really believe he's perfect for me. And somehow - I don't know what I've done to deserve this - I'm lucky enough to have him want to be with me just as much as I want to be with him! :fluffle:

well if i'm the perfect guy for you then we're perfect together! :D :fluffle: [/more soppyness ;)]

and i do love you unconditionally - whatever you do, whatever you say, just... whatever happens i still love you. i love the great parts of you - the 'sides' of you that make me smile and laugh, and the sides that care and support me when i need it and make me feel better, the side of you that's intelligent and mature, the silly side of you thats not mature... i love all of that (and much more!) but i also love the other sides to you... your "flaws" because they make you who you are and a) i love you so they're included, and b) more importantly they make your other sides shine all the more. those flaws also frustrate me because i just want to see you happy, but if i make you happy then go me! :P
i don't need to tell you how happy you make me and how much you help me through every day, how much i need you, want you and love you.... ah damn i just did tell you didn't i? :P
i'm lucky to have you and i don't know what i've done to deserve you, so if the feeling's mutual then we're both lucky to have each other! luckier than that four leaf clover in luckytown on a lucky thursday... *nods* ;)

Oh yes, somewhat religious is sometimes ok.

Although I find the worst is the personal religion. At least with something like christianity you know where not to step, when the guy has deceided to act outwardly atheistic but inwardly has his own little religion he refuses to define and gets really sensitive whenever anybody steps on his fragile, poorly founded ideas and gets upset... then there's a huge problem.

Musts:
- Demonstrable intelligence. Well read and educated.
- Dry wit
- Ability to engage in conversation about the intellectually lofty right down to the utterly puerile
- Honesty and sincerity
- Faithful
- Romantic and tactile, but only in private
- Fairly, but not completely, introverted
- Either non-religious or someone to whom religion is not hugely important
- Not falling at either pole of the political left/right continuum
- No desire to have children

Preferences:
- Nerdiness
- Similar character traits to me (cynicism, misanthropy, general oddball)
- Similar interests to me (pub, music, theatre, concerts, reading, computing, cars etc)

I'm sure there are others, but that'll do. As for looks, there are no hard and fast rules. I like nerdy looking, tall men with glasses, but none of these are 'must-haves'.

The perfect man:

* loves me more than anyone else on Earth, including himself, and loves God even more than me.
* is educated enough to make his own way in the world, and is simple enough to live comfortably in it.
* respects himself and others equally, and treats everyone with dignity and honor.
* gives me the space to be my own strong self in public, and the safety to fall to pieces in private.
* leads by example in all things, and embraces service and sacrifice as being necessary to good leadership.
* has a healthy appreciation of life, and of all living things.
* is committed to working hard at making a long-term relationship succeed.

THAT is the perfect man. That, and no other.

What movies do you like, anyway? I fit every one of those categories perfectly, save for the arm hair part (I don't really have that much, but it's there, and it's visible). I'm only 17 (almost 18), so my muscles really aren't toned/ripped, but hey, you can't win 'em all. :p

In terms of personality:

Musts:
- Demonstrable intelligence. Well read and educated.
- Dry wit
- Ability to engage in conversation about the intellectually lofty right down to the utterly puerile
- Honesty and sincerity
- Faithful
- Romantic and tactile, but only in private
- Fairly, but not completely, introverted
- Either non-religious or someone to whom religion is not hugely important
- Not falling at either pole of the political left/right continuum
- No desire to have children

Since you neglected to mention musical tastes, and omitting the nerdy look (far too indy/emo for that), that be me!:)

Well, right now he's 43, dark hair with a little grey, married, a little chubby, horny, witty, intelligent, creative, loves to experiment and he's my best friend.

Generally, he should be my age or older (don't care how much older), taller than me, definitely chubby, friendly, witty, intelligent, creative, curious, open-minded and someone I can rub against, body and soul.

Edit: After reading this here, a few more anotations:

- Leftish
- Nothing to do with the military, not even in the past
- Non-religious
- not into family
- not too much into sports.

LOL. Well, let's say it's "Station Agent" rather than whatever Vin Diesel next comes out with (though I'd like to think that's a no-brainer right there).

Also, that forearms thing has been blown way out of proportion. :p Nobody ever said anything of muscles. Muscles are not needed.

Alas, I'm too old for you, you'd just be skeeved out. ;)

Vin Diesel movies aren't my thing... :p

Muscles may not be needed, but I'm getting them anyway!

Hm, no biggie.
