Not bad ... as a buzzword phrase.

Bush is so.... *sigh*.. Who knows.

What is he basing that statement on? How does he define 'win'? How does he define 'lead'?

Just the usual simplistic rubbish by the looks of it.

I don't like it. It doesn't flow.

I would have kept it shorter:

When America leads, Americans win.

When we lead, we win.

I like the idea, though.

Agreed, I wish the reporters covering it would implore him to define what he means by things more often.

"Americans always win when America leads"

What is this supposed to mean? Haven't you watched any newscast in the last 5 years?

If that's not a buzzphrase advocating Big Brother-ism across the globe, I don't know what is.

Maybe you just don't like winning.

Generally, when someone is in the lead at the end of a game, they win. Except in those games where the only way to win is not to play, but even then you lose by default.
Or in golf, where the goal is to have the lowest score.

But having the lowest score in golf means you are in the lead.
And not playing isn't losing by default, the only way to defeat a more powerful enemy is to deny him battle.

In such a case America would win by denying battle first, therefore leading in the denial of battles. Then we win money and a pizza party.

When you lead, doesn't someone have to follow? How many people are obeying Bush's commands out there? Guy must be delusional.

Well, in this case, we don't have to worry. If this is the theme to the speech, he's going to talk for an hour about what he means by it.

He hasn't even given the speech yet. Give him four more hours before you commence crapping on it.

More like he'll be talking for 2 years about what he means by it, because he and Cheney and McClellan and every neo-con and party hack in the House and Senate and all the right wing talk show hosts and tv pundits are going to be explaining, selling, and re-explaining this meaningless piece of drivel until the next national election.

I'd love to see the waste can of the highly paid consultant who came up with this.

<scribble, scribble>
"When Americans lead, they end up in front."
"America wins if it gets to the finish first."
Americans finish first."
"Nice guys finish last."
"He who laughs last, finishes first."

It's so vague as to be pretty much meaningless. Possibly this is intentional.

Not always true. Especially in World Hockey. Frequently, Americans end up losing the game, even if they lead for most of it.
