Looks like the people of Iran are not blaming the West for this one.

Reaction is mixed but looks like, across the spectrum, Iran is worried about losing their place at the world cup.

Which is a good reason to not going directly to war with Iran but to se Cold War tactics that would've made the 60s CIA beem with pride.

They should allow Iran to arm itself with Nuclear weapons since its jewish neighbor has about 400 Nuclear weapons. I mean come on they should give Iran some kind of way to defend itself.

Are you fucking kidding me? When has Israel ever attacked Iran? Meanwhile Iran's Hezbollah terrorists have attacked Israel in the past, and Iran funds anti-Israeli terrorist groups.

Israel, to my knowledge, has never even threatened to do Iran any harm until the Iranians decided to join the nuclear club.

I still think that any country currently involved in a war during the Olympics should be automatically barred from attending a competition based around brotherhood.

And this has what to do with the common people? Seems like the people have other priorities instead of nuclear weapons.

Whatever pressure is necessary to get Iran to drop its nuke program should be brought to bear. If Iran goes nuclear, the politics of the region will change drastically for the worse. Coupled with the recent election of Hamas to power in Palestine, a nuclear Iran risks the destabilization of the entire region. Furthermore, the Cold War concept of Mutual Assured Destruction is not a deterrent in a region where tactics involve suicide bombing and fighters are driven by fanatical religious motivation. If barring Iran from the Olympics can help to maintain the stability of the Middle East, then by all means its a good idea.
