I am brand-spankin new here, and i would like to get a conversation going about everyones favorite movie, and for what reasons.

Personally, i my fav is the Shawshank Redemption, with Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. The acting is near perfect, it had tragedy, comedy, and the twist at the end caught me by complete suprise.

Mine would have to be The Aviator. Howard Hughes Jr. was a great pilot and a great innovator.

Jurassic Park. Good acting, story, effects, and it's got the best dinosaurs ever on screen.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

I'm a sucker for Jean Arthur.

I would have to say Saving Private Ryan. I'm a loser when it comes to WW2, especially good WW2 movies.

(This is my first post on the forums =o )

I'm going with Bonnie and Clyde... just got it as a gift so I actually own it. Such a great movie. Brokeback Mountain, which I saw yesterday, was really excellent; School of Rock and This is Spinal Tap are both great; and for foreign movies, I loved Amelie and Run Lola Run. I'm pretty picky with movies, so there you go.

Personally, I like The Princess Bride. As a kid, though, the ROUS' scared the wits out of me, but nowadays I can sit through the whole film happily.

Close in second is The NeverEnding Story. I highly recommend the book as well (Die Unendliche Geschichte by Michael Ende), and also Momo by the same author.

Who can argue with all the fun adventure?

The NeverEnding Story.

I'm suing the makers of the Never Ending Story... It ended. Thats false advertising right there.

Yea, but the movie ended... Thus its not never-ending. I've honestly never seen it, so I can't comment on its actual contents.

Ah man... I saw this thread and was like The Shawshank Redemption! Then I saw that it was already someone's, so to go to the next best thing, What's Eating Gilbert Grape. I hate Johnny Depp, but that's not to say that he ruined the movie.

I am not wanting to spoil it for you, but the basic message is that life is a neverending story, and our choices define the plot. Yes, the film ends, but the story it contains goes on as long as people are living.

I still get the themesong stuck in my head... "A magical adventure for you..."

Pulp Fiction. I crack up every time the dude (name escapes me) accidentally gets shot in the car. And the Kill Bill movies were good as well.

I guess I'm a sucker for comic Tarantino violence...

It's a toss up between Bring it On, or Patton.

Au contraire, the story continues and lives on through a series of increasingly weak sequels that stray farther and farther from the original book and into the realm of vile abominations and raped continuity.
