WOW, what a pain in the ass.

Hmm i used to enjoy having a best friend. Unfortunately, he has decided to turn into a vegetable or as he calls it 'levelling up'. pffft. And its a rip-off, as they ask you to subscribe for content you ALREADY PAID £35 to get. Apparently they need the money to generate all new content every week, all 2 Mbs of it. Anyways, i hate WOW, just thought id say.

WOW is for people who are never going to have sex.

Tell him to get a life and go to www.eve-online.com. Time-based levelling. If he's lucky, he'll meet me and get owned.

Tried talking to your friend about it? :p

WoW can be fun, but its a bit too shallow as an MMORPG. I am waiting for D&D Online. Again, I doubt I'll play more than a few hours a day, but its worth the time at least (I hope). I can't get the WoW addiction.

Its good, by MMORPG standards. Personally, I find it dull. It just involves killing beasties for levels and cash, only leading you to kill more beasties and...you get the idea. The quests are infantile. Quite dull. I hope Stormreach is different.

I can barely see him anymore, he never shifts his arse from infront of his bloody elf. D&D offline is awesome, and its actually quite sociable (which isn't a word I ever thought i'd link with d&d)

It is, amazingly. Online it might be the same, if the game is done well. The problem with D&D offline is you get geeks playing it...a LOT. I don't get along with geeks...especially ones who crack Star Trek jokes

Eh? I'm just airing the sentiments most oft locuted by my less than erudite companions whom, as don't frequent this particular site, are unable to speak for themselves.
I assure you that my speech patterns, whilst highly eratic, are of a higher par than might be experienced in the places that you just mentioned.

1) It's made in Iceland.

2) It takes months of patience to reap the rewards. And oh my god they are massive. Been playing over a year and a half now. It's not for people who have come to expect instant gratification.

DDO was a total disappointment in my opinion. Their idea of content is to allow you to redo every single quest in the game three times to meet the leveling curve. Forced grouping is an idea that naturally entails drawbacks; DDO does virtually nothing to make it an easy or enjoyable experience. Plus, for a game more or less completely based on fighting, the combat system is clunky as all hell... reminds me of the new SWG combat model.

That’s it. That’s all you do. Get a group, get a quest, fight, then redo the damn quest.

I really wanted to enjoy that game but beta left nothing but a bad taste in my mouth. :(

I'll let you know my thoughts on it once I've played it. :p I've loved all D&D games so far, no exceptions. Plus, Eberron is huge as a game world, so as they add content, I think things will balance out well. :) Don't be too let down by the beta. I am sure it'll be fine.

I have been torn over picking up this game, I don't have a massive amount of time on my hands to play (it strikes me as the kind that needs it) but the movies, reviews, and the trial are all pretty awesome. I can make a long term commitment to a MMO, but I can't play 8+ hours a day for anything.

In MMORPG.com's latest survey, it beat the crap out of every other MMO. Again. It has been ranked top since it came out in 2003. Subscriber numbers are only just 100,000, but those who play, LOVE it. Like Counter-Strike was for a while, it is essentially superior to everything else available.

Means you'll have to stay out of low security space politics, but there's plenty else to get inolved in. No powerlevelling involved. A skill which takes you a day to learn, takes a day to learn. You don't have to grind furry creature spawns 12/7 for experience points. You accumulate that as the clock ticks, 24 hours a day.
