Its been twenty years to the day since the Challenger disaster. I want to ask the question: has the United States space program really advanced? I also want to know what you think of the current goals for the space program.

The current goals are just fine, and practical.. whether or not anyone at NASA cares enough to make it work is doubtful.

the Challenger.. 20 years ago.. HOLY CRAP!!!

i was a girl of.. *some age* and we had gone on a field trip to the planetarium, of all places. we got back on the bus and that's when i heard about it.. the bus driver told us. i was the only kid that seemed to care.

the space program.. unmanned space program's kicking ass. manned space program's.. i dunno. we should be able to stay on the moon by now! but yeah.. i think we're doing alright. human error's a problem though. it should all be done with a CC, central computer.

No. It's not like there's been any serious money spent on it since Nixon came to office, after all.

From what I understand, Bush wants to increase the budget for NASA and go back to the moon, to mine it or something. The only other reason I can think of is that he wants to prove that we really did go to the moon. And he wants Command & Conquer style satallite ion cannons.

Very likely: everybody knows that the SDI programme under Reagan led to the collapse of the Soviet Union, after all.

You're British aren't you? "Programme" tipped me off. I'm very interested to hear your theory on how exactly SDI toppled the U.S.S.R.

Something I found about the Challenger, truly a tragedy.

It didn't, that was sarcasm.

Okay, I was starting to get a little worried.
