God and the BBC.

Zero Six Three

NS General has inspired a lot of thought stuff concerning God in my head. It was this very forum that brought you my world famous and very convincing "God can't play hide and seek and cheats at marbles!" arguement but anyway.. before this degenerates into a flame war I was wondering if you could give me your opinion regarding God's perception of the human race. Considering his inherent omniscience do you think God lokks upon us in the same manner in which we british view the BBC. I mean it's all repeats, right? Anything new shown on the BBC is derivative of all that went before it and any original ideas are left in the wastelands of BBC 3 and 4 much like heavy metal and libertarian communism. Does God not look upon us and think " *sigh*.... same old shit!"? And like the BBC we think we have free will. We believe that that we can do what we like because the government won't dare withdraw our funding! Do you think they're are planets and universes out there that are the equivalent to Channel 5 or Men and Motors? Or do you think that this is the most stupid metaphor or simile or whatever ever? What do you think?

If there's an almighty, all-encompassing creator God, I doubt it's even self-aware, let alone capable of comprehending humans any more than we would be capable of comprehending it.

Lesser gods that we mortals can interact and have relationships with, that we build religions around? Sure, they probably get bored of watching our same old, same old, repetitive crap. That's why they fight each other and have sex and stuff, I guess. They need some entertainment, right?

im thinking its brilliant.

do you suppose this is the real reason we have had so many natural disasters in the past year or so? tsunami, hurricanes, land slides, avalanches, earthquakes... the list of random bad shit is so long that its kinda depressing to think about.

so did "god" send these disasters because he is so freaking bored that he needed a bit of entertainment? the husband tells me that when he was in mexico recently that they are all quite amused at the US's inability to deal with a hurricane or 2, so why wouldnt god be just as amused?

The BBC kicks ass - overall most of the better British TV programs have being commissioned by the BBC. Plus, no commericials is brilliant.

So...nah, maybe not the BBC. Maybe a better comparison would by Sky TV - mostly mind numbing and viewing for only the incredibly stupid, but hey, it has The Simpsons, just like God finds most of humanity deeply stupid and boring, but hey, it sometimes has amusing natural disasters!

It's like when I build an amazing city in SimCity3000, then I get bored, and see how long it takes to burn it to the ground. Very fun, actually.
