Arctic Sovereignty

With Harper now in power Canada will probably put into motion the creation and deployment of armoured icebreakers to patrol the arctic.

The US ambassador insists that it is not an issue and that they do not recignize along with other nations as it being Canadian waters. Nobody lives there, but I believe seisure of illegal ships should go ahead.

We have had the problem with the Spanish and Portuguese fishing illegally in Canadian waters resulting in the seizure of those ships.

In order to protect our resources and prevent the possible unobserved exploitation of land, these icebreakers must be deployed.

Though I don't think icebreakers can do much against American and Russian nuclear subs it is the thought that counts

This would be one of the few things that I'd actually like the Conservatives to do. I like the idea of Canada stepping up and saying, "Hey world, we're not going to take crap from you."

Another thing (no really Arctic Sovereignty, but sovereignty none the less) is the shit we take from the USA over NAFTA. If they really don't want our softwood lumber, then I guess they don't want our oil, electricty, water, cows, etc...There are many other nations out there in desperate need of our resources, and I bet many would be willing to pay a fair price. (Sorry for geting off topic).
