Happy slapping, that fun fad started by clever chavs across the Atlantic, has now officially caught on in the US. Four Philadelphia teens were recently charged with picking a random guy and beating him up on camera. In an act of Yankee ingenuity they also decided they'd try to throw him in front of a moving vehicle. They didn't accomplish their admirable goal, but they did manage to dislocate his jaw.

Good thing Philadelphia has strict gun laws. The guy they chose to star in their film might have ruined the whole thing by shooting the poor aspiring filmmakers.

I guess now that they cracked down on "Bum Fights" in PA. Now the kids are taking it upon themselves to do the asskicking.

But seriously, it's a nasty trend. Two people dead in England as far as I've heard. Why does everyone have to indulge these cretins by calling it "Happy Slapping?" That's like if the KKK lynches someone, and the media starts talking about "niggerhanging." It kind of helps support the reality of what they're doing by make it seem special or unique from just plain thuggery.

*shrug* I had the distinct pleasure of witnessing a group of kids with a video camera running down the street attcking pedestrians here in Chicago. I say distinct pleasure because they were detained by a "citizen's arrest" (which translates roughly to six or seven bar regulars working them over) and when the police got there and looked at their tape, they didn't even bother to take the official beating to an alley. Mace and batons right there in the street. Ahh, Chicago....

Reece Sargeant, 21, Darren Case, 18, and David Blenman, 17, all from Kennington, south London, were each sentenced to 12 years in prison for manslaughter. Chelsea O'Mahoney, 16, also from Kennington, was jailed for eight years for the same offence.

I like how the girl gets less time in jail, because she is a girl.

Anyway, these sentences are far too light. I would think 35-40 years, something really life destroying would be more in order.
