This is probably going to get some A typical responses but meh.

I have noticed that those from the conservative camp, in particular those from the neo-con camp seem to think that they are an oppressed minorty. This is despite the fact that in the US and in Australia (the countries I am talking about in this post) the neo cons are in power and have been in power for quite some time. IN Australia we have had Johny in power for a decade and he now has senate control. In America Bush is on his second term. Yet somehow the neo cons seem to think that they are the opressed minority.

The complain about media bias, about how they are badly portrayed, that they are being shouted down by the PC and generally how hard it is for them.

Yeah being in power sure does suck.

The reality is that the neo cons have never held such power and have never had so much support.

Why do they keep whinging like some opressed minority then.

If the media is so bad, is society treats you so hard then how have they managed to succed so well in the political arena.

Its time for them to accept that at the moment it is the left that is the opressed minority, not them.

i dont think you are understanding correctly or something, atleast here in the us i dont know about australia, but the conservaives are not thinking they are a minority.

I haven't really noticed this... I just gloat on the *inside.* :p That's the key... we could win the next five election cycles, but modestly keep the gloating on the *inside.* :) Cartwheels on election day, but modesty among co-workers and politically liberal family members.

tactical reasons mainly.

but i thought this would be about the bigger problem conservatives have with reality. namely, that there is no factual support for pretty much anything they believe, and so they have turned away from an empirical understanding of the world and switched to an authoritarian understanding of it. which is really fucking scary.
