People who write develop many different types of settings. I was wonder what setting you would use.

I've always been fond of Generic Modern American City #3,708 because it allows me to get on with writing about the characters without having to explain a lot of new history or explain the things that people have.

This should have been a multiple answer poll. How the hell am I supposed to vote for Space Mountain?

I have written 1 novel, 2 screen plays, and about 1 million short stories, all are set on Earth, in a generic city, and we always assume it's present day. boring yeah?

I hope some of them at least have robots.

I'd never restrict myself to just one setting, unless I was writing a very, very short scene. Personally, though, I'm a big fan of modern fantasy, so I like city settings, they provide an almost endless range of characters, sub-settings, and plotlines.

Besides which, we write best that which we know and all that nonsense.

well, my novel has aliens that invade, one of my screen plays is acutally mostly set in a mental hospital, the other is about a serial killer, and I think I remember writing a short story about Earth in the future that had been taken over by radioactive hampsters (I think watching "Planet of the Apes" and reading too many Marvel comics had something to do with that one though)
