How did you guys come up with your NS name?
Any particular reason for anyone, or just random?

I bought a box of tic tacs and threw them at the keyboard one at a time, left handed from the opposite side of the room,. This is the name they spelled out.

Wasn't thinking too clearly at the time. It seemed to fit with "The Nomadic Peoples of", faulty grammar be damned. Plus I'd never thought I'd end up on the forums, or I would have chosen more wisely. :rolleyes:

Smunkee is my name, not my real name but close enough, my record from school says <my real name>, AKA Smunkee.

My sophomore year book says Smunkee next to my pic too :D I was kidding around when I put it there, but aparently it never got proof read so that's my name, funny my pic is still alphabetically where it should have been for my real name.

My ex's pet name for me was "Little Fat Bastard", which I shortened to LFB, back in 1999. then changed to LFB_UK to show I came from the UK.

The 'Kaz' bit is an abbreviated form of my first name. The second definition for 'caper' on dictionary.com (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=caper) adequately describes what I envisaged running an online nation would be like - a frivolous escapade. Though that escapade, or rather the related forums, turned out to be an all-consuming addiction :p

I got my name through two thoughts combining:

1) I should give a name similar to New Zealand.

2) It should have a X in it.

So, I came up with Zexaland.

The first fifty or so names I tried were either taken or "reserved for a former nation"...so, I went with the logical alternative, and became one of the "nameless."

If I had to pick my best Blood Bowl name, well, I'd have to go with one from each team. Broggo the Unbearable, star Troll of the Biledriver, Jacques Strappe, Quarterback of the Pylons, and Hurlin Chunks, Dwarven Longbeard who retired with four fatalities, seven debilitating injuries and zero contributions to actually scoring.

mines two places in two different fantasy books merged. but someone thought thought I was Norwegian :). though I'm not tall or blond sadly.

I chose mine based primarily on the thought of what my evil twin would choose.

My name is the name of a Russian Queen. Then with the Swedish word for "harbour" tacked on the back. Strange as it is, I named my self after a Russian city, on a Swedish island, in Finland. Anyhow, I picked it mainly for my nation. In the beginning, I was attempting to make a mirror image of the Åland islands. I'm still trying, half-heartidly, but thanks to this forum and real life, its really easy to forget about that.

Not random ....
The name was due someone else's influence - Verdigroth turned me onto the site/venture and this guy's name was the first to come to mind, since he's the guy who most recently had just undergone a few levels of reckoning to his spiritual attenuation and how they affected his perspective on world events and political issues.
Also, i thought i thought his name had a certain ring to it that made it worth while for literary pursuits.
Then some bad happens befell him *AGAIN* and he's recovering, in his fashion. And at some point he's gonna read about his legacy, as marred and tarnished as it is. ;)

After my deletion I was thinking 100 things/minute and Amecian came to mind, thus my name.

Novel by Neal Stephenson "The Diamond Age", I read it at the time of my engagement with NS. Good reading, though "The baroque cycle" and "Interface" are better.

The Strogg are an alien race from Quake 4 who act much like the Borg, only less flamboyant and much more gruesome. I was going to RP as them in the RP forums, but I've suddenly realised that as they don't really communicate with anybody, and I don't really want to become just another one of those unimaginative nations who can't do anything other than going to war, it's a bit of a redundant idea now. I suppose I could try to explore their history, and how they ended up the way they are, but, I don't know how just yet. So there you are.

Originally, three years ago, this was a mainly warring RP nation. If you knew Bisons, Belem, etc I was allied with them. Looking back I was in a war every other week :/

Once that allegience broke down I stopped warring and focused on other RPs eventually turning my nation from a warmongerer to a peaceful Roman'esque state.

I'm the armourer for my fencing club this term (until AGM time in march- happy days!), and i'm also in final year and very stressed most of my free time is dedicated to both maintaining the armoury, and the whole getting-a-degree-thing too...

In Japanese 弱肉強食　　is "jaku niku kyou shoku" which literally translates as weakk meat is food for the strong... basically the Japanese version of "The Law of the Jungle" but I couldn't use Japanese, so shortened it down to "Jaku".

I had a very basic football management game on the BBC Micro in the 80's for which you had to tediously enter all your own team and player names.

I had a kind of World Cup Super League with all made up countries; Valdania was my team, the best player was called Sharackz I think.

I think its funny how people try names and find they've already been taken.

I really thought out my prior incarnation, and liked that name (though was disapointed no-one got the reference, indeed some people thought it was my real name!), then (having long forgotten the password to the account) I lost access to the email account I registered the Nation with and shortly after (before I had the sense to do anything about that) had Cookie problems that left me unable to log into it...

So, this Naton was a "tada! here I am again!" sort of thing. Hence the name.

I just put world at the end of my name. I had a place called zolland which i prefered but it got deleted for some reason.

1) The Holy Empire of... anything sounds sweet when being preceeded by that phrase.
