Well, figured I'd start this up here and now.

It's the Seattle Seahawks vs. the Pittsburg Steelers.

Who's your pick to win and what'll the score be? Who do you support? Anyone goin to the big game?

I'm a Hawk's fan! Go HAWKS!! WOOOOOOO!!!!!! 27-24 Hawks baby! Respect this team!

Disappointed that Carolina lost NFC, but the Steelers are going to win the Superbowl. There are no cool people who like the Seahawks. Just look at the name. Seahawk? That's dumb. It's only value is that it's alliterative with Seattle. Big deal. GO STEELERS!

...though i'd like to see the Seahawks win, since they've never won anything. (have the Sonics or Mariners ever won titles in basketball/baseball?)

i've wondered why it's Seahawks and not Seagulls...

i'm certain that there's a species of bird commonly referred to as the seagull, but is there such a thing as a seahawk?

M's - no, never even been to the World Series. Sonics - once, in '78 or 79 I think... late '70's... Hawks, first SB appearance ever.

Tough call. Both teams are pretty much evenly matched. Remember, the Colts lost by a hair, they should be in the Superbowl. However, I live somewhere near Pittsburgh, they're closer, and I like their attitude more than the seahawks. Pitt just has more of a "we'll bring it to ya" attitude.

My pick: Pittsburgh by a touchdown or less.

GO HAWKS!!

Seahawks 21 - Steelers 17.

It'll be a great game, but Tatupu's D will win out over the Steeler's offense. No one wants to give the haws any cred, even though they beat the beloved panthers like red-headed step-children. Pittburgh is really good, but the hawks have proved themselves, and will carry away the Vince Lombardi trophy on the 5th!

GO HAWKS!!

lol, no cool people who like the Hawks? What world are you from?

And as far as the name, Steelers aint exactly all the grand and mighty either. I mean, c'mon, Steelers? Named essentially after a metal industry? Big deal. And at least our own fans know how to spell our name - I'm always seeing Steelers "fans" spelling it "Stealers". lol. Go HAWKS!

Keep in mind, Hawks defend is always stopping teams. Look at what happened against Smith and the Panthers. Not even some of the best defenses have been able to stop them. But the Hawks have. And the Hawks have about the best offense in the NLF.

I tell ya, the East Coast bias is gonna catch up to ya guys VEEEEEEERY soon.

GO HAWKS!

The Seahawks are far to underrated by the East coast populace. An obvious bias in the betting line for the good ole Steelers. I think anyone that is betting the line is wishful thinking. Come Superbowl Sunday the wheels will fall off "the bus" and Steelers will go home again losers. Sorry but Cower will go 0-2 in the Superbowl. Better luck next year Steelers.

The Osprey is also known as a "Seahawk" for all those wondering if there was a true Seahawk bird. The Osprey "Seahawk" lives in the Seattle (Puget Sound) area for all those that truly wanted to know.

I'll give it a whirl...I'm gonna be generous and go Seahawks 33 - Steelers 17. If you look at schedules/points in each game, the Seahawks are definitely the better team.

the Seahawks, despite their unusual name, have been incredibly underrated this whole season. Shaun Alexander is one of the premier running backs of this era and the current MVP of the League. almost no one knows anyone else playing for this team - and they're still pretty good.

while they are my darkhorse to winning Super Bowl "Xtra-Large" i really believe the momentum that the Steelers carry with them, not to mention all that momentum from the Bus, will carry them through to the Championship. at the risk of sounding like Mike Tyson, their defense is impregnable and their offense is relentless - though maybe not as high-powered.

maybe it's the baseball fanatic in me, but i still believe a good defense will always neutralize a good offense. Steelers over Seahawks, something like 24-20. this is either going to be one of the most memorable Super Bowls in a long time, or it's going to be completely meaningless - nothing inbetween.

Seahwaks, because they've never won and the Steelers are douchebags who have a psycho coach and they think they're the better team after the Patriots have kicked their asses many times before.

Patriots should have been in it though.

While I appreciate your recognition of the uderrated hawks offence, you yourself are underrating their defence. A great backfield, and an amazing corps of linebackers, the D line can get pressure as well as anyone, and the D coordinator is very good at his job, despite it not being his job before the start of the season. The hawks D is every bit as good as pitt's, and the offence is better, Hawks win!

HHHMMMMmmmmmm........Sounds like a jealous Patriots fan to me! :D

I'd also like to add that the Seahawks aren't gonna have their "12th man" in Detroit. I'm willing to bet there will be more black and gold in Detroit than any other color. The terrible towels will be there in force, my friend!

Don't underrate the Hawk 12th man. Seattle loves to travel when it's championship time - just that you don't get to see it often because Seattle rarely gets a chance like this.

The noise might actually work more to Seattle's advantage; Detroit's an indoor stadium, and the noise factor should help the Seahawks, who are used to the noise. On the other hand, playing in a hostile environment would be no problem for Pittsburgh, who has won three times in a row in hostile environments (Cincinnati, Indy, and Denver...and in Indy, that was probably just as loud as Seattle.) Frankly, the 12th man issue is a wash, and neither team really stands to benefit.

That said, Seattle 27, Pittsburgh 20.

The Seahawks are the better team. They should be able to pull it in. Both Bill Cowher and Mike Holmgren deserve the Super Bowl.

Bettis is headed back to his home town Detroit for his last game he is going to be playing hard ball the Hawks D-fence wont stop him Pitts D is good enough to stop alexander and put enough pressure on Hasselback to make a mistake I'm seeing Palamalu make at least 1 interception Steelers 20 Hawks 17

24-01-2006, 03:04
After the Steelers rolled through the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ranked AFC teams I would really like to see Cowher get that trophy.

Ben is on fire as of lately, he has shown in the last few weeks he can target any of his wideouts and more importantly both his tightends. Last week Cedrick Wilson had a career game, who the hell is Cedrick Wilson!?

The biggest problem the Steelers face is Shaun Alexander, but other than that the Seattle defense doesn't exactly blow my mind where as the Steelers have probably the most aggressive D's in the league. Hell ask Carson, Peyton, and Jake they'd know better than anyone.

The Steelers have too many weapons and I'm not sure the Seahawks have the talent on defense to cover all of them.

As for the score...it's immpossible to predict. I know first hand that any team can win on any given sunday. However, right now I think the Steelers have the edge on motivation alone.

Hey, anyone notice that Jake Plummer kind of looked like Jesus in his picture?

Cowher deserves the trophy no doubts there. I just can't see the Steelers defeating the Seahawks.

The Seahawks led the NFL in sacks this year with the defense that "doesn't exactly blow your mind."

I'd love to see Seattle win it...just to piss of all the Packer fans that live here! :p

That said, the Steelers have this wrapped up. Seattle STILL hasn't impressed me. Sure, they had a good record...they were also playing in the worst division in the league (hence a rushing title for Alexander and a team that leads the league in sacks)

The Panthers were the only threat to the Seahawks. They were banged up, and tired from two straight road games.

The Steelers, on the other hand, have been tested, and passed with flying colors. They are healthy and hungry.

Steelers - 24
Seahawks - 13

I'll go with the Seahawks.. I consider the Seahakws the underdogs, but from the sites I read , Pittsburgh is considered the underdog. I guess I just don't look at them that way. I must try to remember this isn't the 70's. Pittsburgh is one of the top superbowl champs along with SF and Dallas.

Madden NFL XBox live 360 has predicted an outcome of
Steelers 24 - Seahawks 19 I don't give a hoot what it predicts, but I'll still go against the machine.

Seahawks are a better team, what??? Did you see their schedule? Like the only hard team they had to play was the colts, which used all second string players that game. Shaun Alexander has been recieving too much working up these past few weeks, but he will choke. Our defense is solid, and will be like a "Steel Curtain", stopping any attempt to move up the field. I think the only way the Hawks will score is by FGs or maybe a mishap on the part of steelers offense. Yet I think Big ben will dominate this game. I think this will be the best game of his career. If all else fails, the steelers will step into overdrive because they have more at stake. 1) they have to see if big ben will be the youngest QB to win the super bowl, and 2) of couse this is the Buses last game.

And for the guy saying the steelers name is stupid. It comes from the resource that built this country up and made it a superpower..The life support for our wins in wars...So thats a reputation that the steelers have to carry with them.

Score:
Steelers 35 Hawks 21

Stats:
Big Ben- 300+ yrds
Bus-100 yds
Polamalu- 2 ints
Ward-2tds, 100 yrds recieving
The rest of the Defense- a combination of 8 sacks, 4 ints, 1td
The rest of the offense- 200 recieving yards...150 rushing
Special teams-Who cares :p

As much as I want the Steelers to win, the Seahawks do have a chance, but only because the Steelers rolled through Denver and might be cocky and not playing 100%.

Shaun Alexander is a good back behind a great offensive line... sort of like Emmitt Smith in the 90s in Dallas (though SA isn't as good as ES was, imo) -- he has a hole 5 feet wide to run through and doesn't get touched until he's well through the hole.

The Steelers are going to make Hasselbeck beat them... blitz, blitz, blitz. The Seahawks can get some big plays on misdirection (counters, end-around plays, bootlegs, etc.) but i think the Steelers will make it very difficult for:

a)The Seahawks to run conventional running plays

and

b)Hasselbeck to have time in the pocket

Steelers 24
Seahawks 20

I dunno, cockiness is the undoing of the Steelers. It's why they lost the NFC title game last year - not because the Patriots are a better team, but because the Steelers got cocky and weren't playing 100%.

Or were you saying that you doubt that the Steelers wouldn't be playing 100%? I can agree, but only because it's likely Bettis' last game and they would try their best for him. Ordinarily though, I think they'd be cocky.

Actually, it was the AFC title game and that was Ben's 1st ever AFC title game as well. And yes, the Patriots were the better team in that game as well.

Steelers all the way. Steelers are on a roll and have the skills to win on Sunday and the Fans are behind them all the way.

The worse that could actually happen at the supper bowl is that there is a terrorist attack on the super bowl and on Monday the army has a lot of new recruits.

GO STEELERS!!!
