from UPI: By a Welsh psychologist's calculations, the year's most depressing day arrived Monday for people living in Western cultures.

Cliff Arnall of Cardiff University dubbed the day "Blue Monday," and said his formula took into account miserable weather, mounting debt, the length of time since Christmas, failed New Year's resolutions, a lack of motivation and a need to take action.

are you feeling depressed today?

ofcourse, Arnalls formula is flawed, he didnt account for rush limbaugh being back on the air today;-)

Actually I've had a good day. However for the rest of Newport......

One person got chewing gum in their hair, had to cut it. He was depressed

One guy managed to crash the trailer from his car into a roadsign and it landed on another car......think the owner of that second car might have had a bad day.

All I can be bothered to say :)

I feel rather overwhelmed today, and that is kinda depressing, also Mondays are pretty bad for me anyway, because my hubby has school after work, so I don't really get to see him all day:(

Currently in Toronto it is 10 celcius which is completely wierd. Then again there is a national election today so hey lets just think it is April Fools Day and that explains everything. :P

well considering that sports fans were treated to two NFL conference championship games and an EIGHTY-ONE POINT game by the world's best basketball player, Kobe Bryant, today would have to be a letdown...

if he were one of the NBA's PR darlings he'd have two or three MVP trophies by now, as he's put up 27ish points, 6ish rebounds and 6ish assists per game (when he had teammates could shoot) over the last 4 or 5 seasons... has boosted his scoring average to 35.9 (highest since jordan scored 37.1 per game about 20 years ago) ppg... while seeing his assists drop off because nobody else on that team can hit a shot outside of 10 feet -- but he's not a PR darling. One ESPNews reporter mentioned the other day that Dirk Nowitzki would have her vote for MVP. I wanted to ask her if she's paid any attention at all to Kobe... she'd probably mention something about the rape horseshit. Maybe because anti-Kobe bias like hers, Kobe has never gotten his due (it goes back to before the phantom-rape slander and libel he suffered a couple years ago).

Maybe the 62 he scored in three quarters and this latest incredible effort of 81 points will get him the MVP he deserves.

Bryant gets consistently double-teamed outside the three-point line -- the only NBA player to garner such consistent guarding -- which helps explain the games where he has several turnovers, because he usually takes on the double-team.

so the world's best player, who wows the guy who coached the greatest ever, Michael Jordan, put on a show yesterday. So naturally, today would be a letdown.

This has been the first Monday of the year that hasn't actually taken me by total surprise, so I'd say it's been fairly good as far as days go.
