He is obviously not human. He must be the black basketball playing version of Jesus.

81 points... against my beloved Raptors.

He can score as many points as he likes, that won't make him a better human being. The guy's a scum bag.

He's paid to play.

He's an all right basketball player, although those 81 points should have been laid up against competition in the Colorado penal system. The man was guilty, end of story. He's also guilty of being a complete asshat in trying to insinuate Shaq does the same thing...prove it or shove it.

I'm not sure the girl was a housekeeper though. Wasn't she the receptionist?

Upon further review, yep. Concierge and receptionist.

You get two points and a complimentary bag of peanuts. :)

It was still damn funny though.

Yeah, sure, Kobe may score 80+ points in a game, but his team is still only 21-19.

I've always hated the basketball teams that exist to feed the ball to one superstar.

I heard it was his 666th game.

Then you must not like the sport very much. I'd rather watch Kobe score a bazillion points than see a 75-68 snoozefest between Detroit and San Antonio.

I love the sport, just not the NBA.

And my favourite games are between Detroit and San Antonio :p

At least it's proper basketball and not a dunk competition.

What about that ludicrous double-OT shootout the other day between Seattle and Phoenix? I didn't watch it; I only caught the SportsCenter highlights, but it had to be a good game. Better than watching one guy shoot 87 times.

This reminds me of the time a teammate of Wilt (I don't remember which) went on the tonight show and said "between Wilt and me, we scored 102 points."

Kobe will NEVER bring a championship to L.A. by himself, and at this rate he won't even get the (s)Lakers to the playoffs on his own. He needed Shaq, but was too prideful to admit it, and now the franchise is paying the price. Not that I'm unhappy about that, being a Blazers fan ;)

All I can say is.......

GO NUGGETS :D

Actually, I don't watch much NBA. To showboaty for my taste but Kobe needs to learn that there are 4 other people out there on the court.

Kobe only scored 81 because he was plaing against the CRaptors. Hell, Darko Milicic could probably get a quadruple-double against Toronto if he wanted to.

He is actually much closer to Mike than people give him credit for. When we look back in ten, fifteen years, we will realize that he is one of the greatest players ever...

Call him a ball hog all you like but when your teammates are the equivalent of NBDL crap, there isn't much reason to pass to them...

Not all of Kobe's teammates are terrible. Lamar Odom could be a really good player if Kobe would pass him the ball.

Lamar Odom is worthless to the Lakers. You could see it in their most recent loss to Sacramento. They should package him with Kwame Brown and ship them out for a talented player and some second rounders.

Say whatever you want about Kobe, about how he's a ball hog, that thing in Colorado, but he is by far the best player in the NBA right now. His 81 point performance may even be more impressive than Wilt's 100 point game. Wilt was over 7 foot when barely anyone else in the league was, so he got to pound it in the paint, whereas Kobe makes the most incredible shots from anywhere on the floor. He can have two guys in his face, but if the game's on the line he'll make the shot more often than not.
