I consider myself to be a patriotic European whether hiking in the Black Forest, enjoying mussels and chips at a Belgian Cafe or settling down to a pint of ale in my native Yorkshire I feel, in a very real way at home. I would be in favour of a united Europe, as suggested in a number of previous threads however I remain against intergreation a "little islander". There are reasons for this and this is a list for things the EU should do before intergration,

1) Start using the Anglo-Saxon economic system. Allow the banks and stock exchanges to run themselves to a greater degree. Taking favoured legal status away from trade unions, ban closed shops, consulting workers no longer compulsary. Favour free trade and flat taxes. This should alow Europe to blossom at a service sector and scientific economy.

2) Introduction of the common law, precidents can be set by judges as part of law. Stops the state intervening with the judicial process. In my opinion this is an important gesture as it weakens the boundary between state and citzens allows the decisons of citizen juries to influence the law.

3) Allow states to control their own currencies and exchange rates. This allows states to taylor exchange rate to their own situations.

4) End to subsidies and CAP. So corrupt it is ridiculous and unaccountable.

Any thoughts...
