I downloaded it, thought it was good but not the type of game I would buy. Thought the Cossacks series was much better.

Downloaded, played for 5 minutes, deleted it.

I have it, play it regularly (in between EQ2, GW and a life of some kind on the outside too -- for some reason, women hate when you spend more time on a computer than on them... oh... uh... that came out wrong...). I don't play online though, if that's what you're after.

It's not worth it. Get Rome Total War.

Or Age Of Empires 2. It's the same game when you get down to it (OK there's been the odd update but it's not much).

Civilization IV is much better. Age of Empires III is little more than a graphical update of earlier versions, which is pretty sad.

I own it, but I haven't played it because my computer is busted and currently being fixed. But I eagerly await playing.

How is Civ IV? I am nervous about getting it because of the disasterbacle that was Civ III.

Dude, go and buy it. It beats the living shit out of Civ II, and that's saying something.

That is to bad, I still have AoE II and thought it was a great game when it came out. To bad that the newest it like the old, the death of a great game, how disappointing.

I bought AoE II, I don't think I ever played it at home more than half an hour.

I have Age of Empires: The Conquerors.

That's just the expansion pack for II. Good game though, just doesn't hold a candle to the newer games in the genre.

AoE II is still great. Age of Mythology is good, too, but I never really got into it.

Age 3 is... Disappointing, to say the least. It's still focused on really small armies, while other modern RTS games have thousands of units at once.

Well Dawn of War isn't too dissimilar in style. Personally I prefer games whare maneouvring brings some kind of advantage to unit-based games though.

Got AoE three, the cards system is the only diffrence between it and AoE2. Everything else is basically the smae, just better looking. Pity they didn't move on, they where GREAT games.

I have too many games and too little time to play them. I've got AoE III, Civ IV, Oblivion coming out soon. It's too much for me to handle. :)

Scrap AoE III and Oblivion. Use your free time to play Civ IV, and nothing but Civ IV. Nothing is more fun than creating an all-powerful Islamic Theocracy...

...Well, having a nation full of Buddhist Romans is pretty fun(ny), too. :p

Scratch Oblivion? Surely you jest. That game will consume my life when it comes out.

I have AOEIII... and I'm afraid I have to agree with you guys panning it. Because the Home City feature, which IS a good idea, moves too slowly to make the otherwise boring skirmish mode worth playing for a long time.

CivIV ROCKS... much better than CivIII, which was hard even on the easiest difficulty level (I'm one of those sorts of people who like to play but are crap)... I miss the graphics style (although 3D graphics ARE better IMO) and the advisors, but everything else is great.

Yah AOK owns AOE3 any day. Online was so much better in AOK, it is simpler and has a more of "homey" feeling. I liked Risk as a custom scenario in AOK. I was top 10 online at one point.. ah the glory days
