Hi kids. :)

I'm here today to tell you all about a new programme I would like to initiate. As many of you know, I have campaigned to end forum fires for quite some time now. Up until this point, I have chosen to carry on my campaign alone. I now feel that it is time to make the prevention and putting out of forum fires a cooperative effort. In this way, the campaign against forum fires will be much more effective and will not depend on my presence.

So I ask you, would you be willing to become a Forum Firefighter? Do you have what it takes to prevent forum fires and help put them out? Are you willing to act in accord with the Forum Firefighter's Oath?

To make this easy to read and understand, I have presented it in the format of a list of Frequently Asked Questions, which will no doubt be revised as new questions become frequently asked. Q: What is a Forum Firefighter?

A: In simple terms, a Forum Firefighter is a poster who acts in order to prevent and/or put out forum fires.


Q: What does it take to become a Forum Firefighter?

A: You will have to learn how to prevent and put out forum fires and use that knowledge to help make the forum free of forum fires. You will also need to take the Forum Firefighter's Oath, which can be found below.

Interesting notion. I am assuming that there is no teeth given for volunteers. meaning it's still reporting to the mods.

but then again, I try to be flame free and when I do see incidents of when it occures, I do try to put it out.

Posting in anger detracts from the thread. Flames do nothing to help anyone convince anyone else of their point of view. and I have seen many an interesting thread devolve into Flamewars.

Whats wriong with Santa? He comes to my family every year. But it's strange, cause my dad always have to leave a bit before he come and visit us.

I fear that in order to put out the fires of NS general, you'd need to use every drop of water on the planet, and even then it'd be smouldering. I've never seen a more hostile forum in my life...

It's the hate that makes this place great. I mean, without all the spam, bouts of public nonsense, flaming, trolling, and other forum drama, this place would just be another bland political forum.

No, for once in my couple decades I really am deadly serious. Smokey seeks to cut the very legs out from under this forum by making it a nice place to be in. Who the Hell wants to live in a nice place? It's so dull.

It is were someone starts bashing and "flaming" the person as an individual and not the isssue or argument. Which is really cowardly and unethical.
