"Who?" I went, then immediately realised it was some celebrity, again , and didn't even bother using my http://www.bugmenot.com Firefox extension.

I am assuming it is not the Great Great Great Grandson of Famous Confederate Hero and occasional Crank Picket famous for his Charge and Gettysburg and the subsequent loss of his men.
Cannot think of a name

Why would we come on NS to tell you someone down the street has died? You know you're not going to care, we all know you don't care, why do you bother posting in threads with subjects you obviously don't care about?
Goodbye, Mr. Pickett. Thanks.
(The lyrics to Mustang Sally made me giggle in a juvenile/nerd way-as they suggested I 'give it' to a female American astronaugt. ("Ride Sally Ride..." a-nyway...)

I had the pleasure of seeing Wicked Picket in 2001 during one of the last years that the Ottawa Bluesfest was still a good event. He had Ike Turner as his leadup - and damn Ike could still tickle the ivories. Two of the grand old forebearers of rock and soul on one card (James Brown played either the night before or the one after - I can't remember).
Excellent shows all, which mostly made me wish I could have seen them all in their prime.... Still, the talent and the showmanship was still all there for all of them.
There are not too many chances left to see these old guys. BB has just announced his last ever world tour today. If you get the chance and the music apeals to you - don't put these things off. There aren't that many chances left.
Farewell Wilson.
Dance with me honey, like Long Tall Sally
Twistin' with Lucy, doin the Watusi
Gotta hold of your back, I like it like that
Do the Jerk, watch me work
Ah, do it!

Nah, just an old blues man who got lucky and knew a guy who knew a guy. A damn fine musician, but far from being a celebrity.
