Who Hates Lleyton Hewitt?

Because I sure do.
"Ohh, ohh look at me, I took 3 hours 45 minutes to beat someone ranked around 50 places below me! I'm so proud!"
His attitude annoys me. By the way, im refering to his first round win against the unseeded Czech Republic player, Vik. This was Vik's 3rd Grand Slam appearnce. He has total prize winnings of $200,000 vs Hewitt's 16 mill.
The commentators played down Vik to the very end.
There was one horrific call by the umpire which probably changed the course of the match. I hate the way Hewitt shouts "COME ON" when Vik missed a shot, self assured prick.
Sigh, sorry Aussies, I just don't like him at all.

Vik's winner = *Silence...* "Bit of a miracle shot". I took miracle to mean that it was lucky/it shouldn't have happened.

One of my favourite events in tennis is to see Lleyton Hewitt lose, preferably to someone other than Federer.

And if you were watching the Australian coverage, I was absolutely disgusted by Jim Courier's commentary. Can you believe it? He almost seems to egg Lleyton on with all his antics and "come ons". He even said something along the lines of "it's a good idea egg on the other player".

Biased commentary indeed.

Hewitt's one of those characters that you either really love or really hate. On a sporting level, most people appreciate how well he plays, but his behaviour is a different matter. There's people who absolutely love what he does, and then there's people like us who deplore his every move. I appreciate his fighting qualities and all that, but that opinion of mine is completely overweighed by my dislike for his unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Seriously, it seems he only ever yells "come on" when his opponent has made an error, or he retrieves a shot that normally should have been a winner, frustrating the opponent.

And about the crowd, the people pay to watch Hewitt play, so there's a greater chance that the people in the stadium support Hewitt. I'd rather pay to watch Federer or Roddick than Hewitt.

Well, you know, people like Andy Roddick, and he behaves just as badly as Lleyton. And I happen to think he displays quite good sportsmanship off the court.

EDIT: Anyway, at least he makes it exciting. I get sick of seeing Roddick and Federer smash people 3 sets to love every time I turn on the tennis. And to the OP, that guy who's like, 50 places below him, has evidently improved out of sight, considering he moved up like, 350 places from 400 in the world to 50. So maybe he's a better quality player than his current ranking suggests. We all have to start somewhere.

Hewitt is a hyper-competitive athlete, who truly believes that what he is doing will give him an edge during the match. He does not apologize for said behaviour, nor does he temper it, even when knowing how the other players feel (re: they dislike it). In Hewitt's mind, his behaviour is an on-court weapon.

Hewitt also makes for an interesting contrast to other tennis players who play the game in a more subdued manner. At least for those watching.

Two blondes (Sharapova and an American girl) playing tennis.. Can't be a bad thing.

The thing about Lleyton Hewitt is that he seems so happy that he 'came back from the dead' against Vik.. But he should never had been in that situation if he was really good.
He said afterward he hopes he can "build some mommentum* over the next couple of weeks" but with form like that and depending on his draw, he'll be lucky to see out this week.

*Don't think that's what word he used, but it's what he was saying.. If you get what I mean.

I'm from Australia and last year when someone asked people at my tennis club who they wanted to win the Australian Open Final, Safin or Hewitt, about 80% of the people said they wanted Safin to win.

Hewitt acts like a petulant brat and last year when the Australian Open supervisors said they wouldn't change the courts to suit him when he abused them about it publicly, he acted like a little kid who didn't get what he wanted for Christmas. Federer, however, plays a much more elegant game with classical strokes and just hitting through the ball very cleanly and consistently. Safin gets angry but he gets properly angry and he gets angry at himself and doesn't take it out on other people anywhere near as much.

Anyway, did anyone else see Nalbandian's through-the legs, half-volley drop shot?

Is there really more sheep than people in my country? I hope you were being sarcastic...

Its true

That there live 6 times more sheep than people in Australia?
Australia is the leading sheep producing country in the world, with approximately 120 million sheep. This means that for every person living in Australia, there are approximately six sheep - that's a lot of sheep!!

Sheep are raised throughout southern Australia in moderate to high rainfall areas and in the drier areas of New South Wales and Queensland. The Australian rural landscape is uniquely suited to sheep, with a relatively mild climate extending over vast areas of natural grassland. Wool production is the country's largest and most important form of land use, with some 70’000 wool growing properties.

Individual flocks range from a few hundred to as many as 100’000 or more animals, with some three quarters of all sheep run in flocks of 3’000 or more.
Australian sheep produce mainly wool, the most important breed is Merino.

The lasting drought in Australia has taken its toll from the herds. Farmers and industry are waiting anxiously for a rainy season.

We at Novartis Animal Health know how important healthy animals are for farmers and consumers. That is why we make it our life's work maintaining and improving the health and welfare of animals.

And where are you from, may I enquire?

Solid 11 an over lol.

One time during the ashes the camera flicked to an ederly woman.
Not sure who Richie was commentating with, but they said
"Is that your wife Richie?"
To which he replied, "the answer to that... *silence* Is yes"

I guess you had to be there, but it was hilliarous.
