A News Event For Those Who Think Galloway is Intelligent

I always thought Galloway was a complete ass, and now there's stark proof. Either that, or the man is certifiably insane.

He purred and mewed, his greying whiskers giving his face the appearance of a Cheshire cat. Next, George Galloway, the Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, and scourge of Capitol Hill, got on all fours and pretended to lick milk from the cupped hands of the once-famous television actor Rula Lenska. She rubbed the "cream" from his "whiskers" and stroked his head and behind his ears.

When he steps out into the real world, Mr Galloway may regret his decision to accept the producer's challenge to mimic a pet on live television last night. He may feel his flirtation with a reality TV youth audience was not worth the loss of credibility that many of his critics claimed yesterday was an inevitable consequence.

and then there's the fact that he missed a parliamentary vote affecting his constituency directly because he was too busy making a prat out of himself on TV... hmm.

i never liked him. he just says what people want to hear and doesn't back anything up with conviction, yet alone substence. he's a sneaky, ratty opportunist and a good speaker, and thats it.

The only proof we needed was the fact he agreed to go on that unspeakably hideous programme. I know he was attention-whoring, but it was still fucking stupid.

That's a complete news non-event.

It's celebrity Big Brother. Completely pointless and irrelevent. A complete waste of time. The proper news is that he's actually on it, and not in Parliament.

Galloway is intelligent. He's very intelligent. And a great speaker.

Doesn't mean he has an ounce of common sense though.

And a great speaker.I concede this point as I saw him speak live a few months back and he was very good. However, any credibility I felt the man had was lost as soon as he went on that pile of shit.

I really didn't understand the way the papers jumped on something like this - so what if he was just having a bit of fun? Sure, he's an attention whore, and devious, but it's pretty pathetic how the right wing tabloids act as if he's a monster for pretending to be a cat for a joke. I bet if someone like Cameron did the same, they'd be praising him for his sense of humour and for being a fun-loving character.

No, I seriously doubt that. Imagine, for an instant, if President Bush did that on TV.

Everyone would be posting here, claiming that Bush was certifiably insane.

I agree, I was watching him on Real Time and I doubt the audience would've have clapped if he didn't have an accent and they were to busy going " Do you hear that? " to see the spinelessness of his arguements.

You mean as opposed to GW doing his self-deprecating "Nope, no WMD under the desk HERE" routine?

Admit it, you would be more frightened at this point if Bush was acting like a cat, and Cheney was petting his head.

George Galloway is an idiot. Not for the whole cat thing, but for going on 'Celebrity' BB in the first place. Did he seriously think it would raise his profile? Or make him more popular with people interested in politics? Imbecile.

WTH did you quote yourself?

I find it astonishing that someone can last 100 + posts on a forum that generally offends people left & right when there so sensitive.

Actually, the image of them doing this - probably also with an abundance of latex-wear - seems to many of us the most believable scenario on how those two conduct policy meetings.....

Yeah, I mean it would explain so much about the way he runs the country. He treats the country like his personal litterbox, after all.

Probably so, but personally I wouldn't mind if he did - I might even warm to him a bit for having the balls to just mess about like that when he usually seems so dull and wooden.

The British tabloids are all predominanly right wing and have a habit of criticising every single little thing a left wing person does. For example, the whole hypocritical nonsense about branding Ken Livingstone as Anti Semetic for getting pissed off with an annoying journalist and comparing him to a Nazi prison guard, then finding out he was Jewish. The very same papers who went ape are constantly whining about "PC going too far" and how people shouldn't be offended so easily.

As I recall, it was Chretien and Martin who taught Bush and Cheney that they could have man-boobs and still have great sex.

It was Gary Condit who did the red latex suit thing...

But that's not really a good comparison, is it? It wasn't Prime Minister Tony Blair on a reality show acting like a cat, it was an MP. The comparison would have to be to a republican senator. And to be honest, the members of house and senate from all parties do so much nutty stuff that it's really hard to keep up. If we got in tizzy over every time our congress people did something as tame as act like a cat (see what I did there?) we wouldn't get anything done.

I watched the live version for ten minutes yesterday. For the entire of the ten minutes, they showed a kettle boiling.

As for Galloway, It'll really piss him off when he finds out that every time he speaks about politics or Iraq Channel 4 change camera. I can't wait for the outburst when he gets out.
