I am gonna go with Oasis on this one as well..... although Green Day isn't all bad either.... this should be a close competition.
Depends, I liked Green Day's old music. The new stuff I can't even listen to. Oasis I was never particulary fond of but they were pretty good.

I'm not partial to either, really. Though I hear The Beatles all through Oasis's music, their pretentiousness really trumps that. Greenday used to remind me of The Clash, but now they're more like nothing I was ever in to.
Er...completely different styles of music so there's no comparison.
I, personally, dislike Oasis.

Oasis wins because i refuse to acknowledge the existance of any band as bad as green day.
I enjoy Green Day's older music, but not their new music.
I like Oasis in general.
Green Day on the basis that at one time, they did rock, whereas Oasis have just posed for an entire career.
They're both pretty good.

.. I gotta go with Greenday. I generally like most of their stuff except when it goes "emo" like, then I gotta change to something else. Oasis I never liked to much...
I think the beauty of the question is that they are entirely different bands, but perhaps caught the author's ear on some random playlist, which started the question... Both perfectly respectible bands, and I am personally enjoying the answers so far... "Vote Oasis in 2006"..

Green Day is better, although I am biased, I have been a fan since before Dookie.
Oasis has some interesting songs (I guess :rolleyes: ) but in the end they just don't live up to good music, they whine, their rythm is off, their lyrics suck, their harmonies are uninteresting, and well, they have a little tooo much drama don't you think?

you have 3 basic classes of Green Day fans, the ones who have been fans since well, it seems like forever, but is really more like 15ish years. (that would be me)
the ones who thought Dookie was "super cool"
and
the ones who listen to piss of their parents.
the first will probably always be fans, they will pick and choose as to which albums are "worthy" and which ones are crap, but it will come down to they just like Green Day.
The second, are pretty much pissed off because "they should have stuck with stuff like was on Dookie" even though Dookie was typically uncharacteristic of Green Day in general, and was pretty much studio induced crap (sorry, but it's true) or they are pissed of because Green Day grew up and the piss and fart jokes are a thing of the past, these are the fans who think that Blink 182 is the best thing ever (and they annoy me)
the third will be "die hard fans" as long as Green Day is on TRL (or whatever crap trendy thing they are into now) and will forget all about it when they get the new CD of whatever pisses off their parents next year.

So I guess this means Oasis sucks even more than Green Day.

I like them both, however Green Day a little more. I saw their tour for American Idiot in 2004. I hate the album, they're old stuff is really good, but they put on a good show and are still a really good band, the new album's songs just suck. I also thought Oasis was really good when I saw them.

Some Green Day is pretty bad. Some is okay.
Some Oasis is pretty bad. Some is okay.
Both are comprised of pretentious twats.
I think they both get a rating of "shit sandwich".
