Right now I'm slowly making my way through seventeen mix CDs that my friend made for me....though I'm not sure why they were made. Most terrifying of all, is that he would've made "far more" had he not run out of CDs, and so far (I'm in the 5th CD) there have been NO repeats

Worthy of mention, perhaps, is that these are MP3 CDs, not just standard 20-or-so song CDs....

Listening to Cover by Tom Verlaine, and the best album of all time is In Camera by Peter Hammill: loud scary fucked up decadent prog, nothing else on Earth sounds anything like it. (Rumour has it that he recorded everything besides the drums and the synths on a four track, and overdubbed them later. A very modern approach for an album that came out in 1974...)

Simonist: if it wasn't for the no repeats thing I'd think he's just burned you everything he has on iTunes.

Cameroi

cameroi deeply appreaciates your intent, though its ageing population is no longer in touch with much of what you find current.

i believe i may have heard tool and i believe i may have liked them but i couldn't swear to eather with any degree of certainty.

my nominee for best alblum of all time would have to be moody blues; days of future past. runner up for number two would be tangareen dream's double casset alblum.

while we have found all genre's to have good things to offer, some none the less, much more then others, we do have favorites. these are tecnoambient glacialy cool alternative fussion for one, and a little known niche beyond the circle of its affecianados known as filk, which for those unfamiliar, is folk music of folk who haven't been born yet. (or more generaly live only in our collective immaginations).

and yes there is such a thing, and i've no doubt here is one of those rare places outside of speculative fiction conventions of one sort or another, where there might well be many already well awaire of its existence.

enthusiasts of this genre have been known to stay up well passed the turning of one day into another caterwalling it in what are sometimes known as bardic circles, or otherwise simply the filk room.

usualy begining after the remainder of scheduled panels and other events have ended for the day, and lasting, sometimes untill they begin again the next.

we also love the spirit of jam bands and music festivals, though remain personaly too impovereshed to partake of them directly. fortunately such bands as the cosmic wobble and blue turtle seduction, moe, fish, and many others, find airplay on the kind of alternative radio i listen to.

and my appologies for a little tiney bit of politicising, but cameroi will never be 'clear channeled'

blessed be

=^^=

Tool album, not so much, never really got into them, too hard.

Listening to right now: Crosby, Stills, and Nash; Deja Vu

Ynybyshyd Gryyd, LOL

Best album of all time? A three way tie, Abbey Road (The Beatles), Rain Dogs (Tom Waits), Who's Next (Thw Who).

1) Sort of. Lateralus wasn't nearly as good as Aenima so if this is a step up from Lateralus I'll be pleased, if a step down, it will probably still be good, but not good enough to look forward to.

2) "I'm Alive" by Blind Guardian.

3) Jylly Byyfry

4) Nevermind by Nirvana.

5) Not at the moment, except...

Overplay. I like it as much as the next guy, but one can only listen to Baba-O-Reilly so many times before it becomes an incitement to commit evil deeds.

1. Meh

2. At the mo - Clapton. In general, my tastes have broadened since coming to university; I'm starting to get into some less mainstream stuff. Folk, and not the American sort, I'm talking accordions here. Whapweasel and Brian McNeill, etc.

3. Tyrqyyysy Dyys:D

I'm not sure. I heard it was offcuts from Lateralus, and I like ÆNIMA much more than that album anyway. I'll probably end up buying it, but i'm not sure what to expect.

What are you listening to?

Soundgarden's Superunknown album.

Chrys.

Best album of all time?

I don't think I could pick just one. Welcome to Sky Valley by Kyuss is probably my personal favourite, but I don't think it's the best album of all time, 'cause it's a pretty niche style. In Utero by Nirvana is probably equal to it, but not everyone likes it and it's far too overshadowed by the IMO slightly inferior Nevermind to be the "best". *shrugs*

When I was about fourteen (20 years ago) I had a drum set (I sucked) and my brother's friend came over to play and he was awesome. He was about 11 or 12 and I was shocked to hear a black kid from Newark belting out Kiss' Rock and Roll All Nite on my drum set. As we were talking, he kept talking about his uncle and how his uncle was recording music and was going to be big one day soon. I remember thinking "yeah right". Turns out his uncle was Wyclef Jean and his little band, The Fugees, made quite an impact on the music scene. I felt foolish for doubting him.
