your working hours

just curious.
edit: hm perhaps i should have done hours... bah. don't know how many hours i work per week so i generally don't expect anyone else to know :p
generally i work from about 10am to 7 or 8pm most days (when i'm in the office) and work most weekends to some degree - usually just a few hours (maybe 6 or 7 over both days). however i do post here a fair bit during the day when i'm between things or waiting for something... so it balances out :P
Lately? Next to nothing, all of the cheaper younger people get all of the hours, 'cause they're on holidays from school. Can't say i'm complaining too much though....enjoying the break actually. :)
While i'm at university, I usually do 20-30 hours a week, anywhere from 7am-midnight.
Edit - and i'm always on call, though I can usually weasel my way out of it by the virtue of not having a car.

Well, I know people here will hate me (but hey, I'm used to that!), but here are my hours:
Monday: No teaching
Tuesday: Two 50 minute lessons
Wednesday: One 50 minute lesson
Thursday: Three 50 minute lessons (God, how I hate Thursday!)
Friday: Two 50 minute lessons.
Worst thing is that I have to be at school at 8am and aren't allowed to leave 'til 4pm, even on Monday. bleah.

Lately 0630 - 1730 M-F and 0930- 1500 on Saturday.
When you can work as much as you want to and nobody stops you, the hours tend to get a bit long.
EDIT:
On the poll, I picked "other". I don't have any set hours. I make up my own as to what is necessary to get the job done. It's a salaried position, so it doesn't matter how many or how little, as long as it all gets done. And there's alot to do.

English. I used to teach maths. But teaching english overseas pays wayyyyyy better and the hours (in case you haven't noticed) are better.

Uni student. I work during the holidays to pay for all my free time during terms. In the next two weeks I have to be in uni for 2 hours (although that's an exam), then I've decided to miss my first lecture of term to go to see Soulfly and Bauhaus up in Manchester :D
I work 5 or 6 days a week but only get about 30 hours. For example this week I will work 4pm-12 mon, 8pm-12 wens, 4pm-12 thurs, 11am-4pm fri, 8am-5pm sat
and all the fun of having completely random working times for 10.94 an hour minus tax and union fees.
Who says being a uni student is a bludge, its only a bludge for the bums eligble for government support, becuase my parents earn a certain amount I have to live out of home for two years (one left) before I can get any government support. When uni is on i am full time and I work at least 20 hours a week... hollywood lies about the supposed freedom and or fun of tertiary education. LIES!!!!
On the upside I get to call people "dole bludging bums" and say things like "im a tax payer and i think".
Dam dole bludging bums, go get a job

Well, here in HK they're hiring almost anybody (hey - they hired me, right?). They set up a scheme a couple of years ago to have a Native English Teacher (NET) in the local schools. Originally it was one teacher between 2 schools (alternating weekly).
They then decided to expand the scheme to be one NET p/school, thereby doubling the number needed. Added to that 1/2 of the previous lot of NETs didn't renew their contracts (it's a 2 yr contract), so there's now LOTs of vacancies.
Originally, one had to have a degree, a postgrad teaching diploma, a TESOL cert (just the one month CELTA or TESL course) and teaching exp to be considered (which I have btw).
But now, cause of the large number of vacancies, it's down to just a degree and a TESOL. Hell, I know of one NET who's a native born Hong Kong Indian with a masters in Chemistry. So where exactly she fits into the checklist I don't know.
As I said, the money's bloody good. I'm on ~$6000Oz a month after tax.

So that's why so many people in Hong Kong can speak fluent English.

Holy cow, that is pretty good. (I'll not even try and calculate your hourly wage, too depressing ;) )
Me, I'm a university student, in theory writing her masters thesis right now. In reality, not so much.:(
Also, to make some money, I work one (or two, if I'm being a push-over again) days a week, usually from 9:30 am to 8 pm, in a company organizing medical/nursing management conferences.

I work 6 hours a week. 2 on Monday, Wedenesday and Friday. I get to decide when I work those hours. Usually I work from 4-6. But if I want I can do 11:39-1:39. It's all up to me.
I'm a uni student. My schedule this semester sucks so some days I start at 8:30 and have huge gaps in my classes so that my last class ends at 5:30 even though I only have 3 hours of class... but then other days I have one class in the morning and then I'm done. Once the semester really kicks into gear, I'll be putting in 12 hour days at the library again.
I'm also starting up my self employed job of tutouring again. It's great, I get paid to help people learn really easy physics. :) Sad thing is that if they were friends beforehand, I'd do it for free. Actually, I do do it for free, just not in a one on one setting.

It's been done approximately two thousand times. Although there wasn't too many complaints last time, so you should be safe.
Friday and Saturday 9-5. The rest of the week I'm at uni.

I checked '9 to 5' but I actually do 9am - 5:30pm. Five days a week, Monday to Friday. Funds a car, a home and pretty much everything I want out of life at the moment though, so I can't complain.

Ouch.
Well, it depends a great deal if you mean what my contract states or what I actually do.
According to the Japanese goverment, I am supposed to work from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm with an half an hour lunch Mon - Fri. No more than 35 hours a week, period. I am supposed to teach 4 or 5 periods a day, having one free prep period in the mix.
In reality: I'm at school everyday at 7:45 am and (assuming no meetings, lesson planing, extracurricular activities, students blowing something up, etc.) I leave at 5:15 pm, but I also have lunch duty every day. I teach anywhere between 1 period to all 6 periods depending on the plan and day of the week. Oh, and my town has me contracted to each two adult classes every other week, and a small one person tutorial on the side as a favor to my kouchou-sensei. Of course if something is going on, I'm here earlier, go home later, and may be in on Saturdays.
Sadly though, this is noting compaired to the Japanese teachers (Here at 7 am, home at 8ish, (if they're lucky), and no such thing as a weekend).

I voted for: 9 to 5, Other, and myrth/melkor/cog/kat/gmc/you know...
Out of order:
"myrth/melkor/cog/kat/gmc/you know..." <- This is for obvious reasons
"9 to 5" <- That describes my normal working day (except that it often runs closer to 6)
"other" <- If something needs to be done, I don't have the luxery of hours. I'm putting in a few hours this weekend and stayed till almost 8 last friday. (This is on my non-NS job).

I work 9:30 am to 7 pm Sunday to Thursday plus whatever overtime I pick up, which is rare but I did it last Friday because of bonus cash (money my employer throws at people to get them to work OT because no one wants to do it otherwise...well, except those who get into attendance trouble and have to work OT to undo that.) Frankly, I wonder if I would be happier being laid off and collecting unemployment...

I work 8-5 Monday through Friday. I'll be retiring in about two years, which means I'll probably end up working more - but, hopefully, I'll be doing something I enjoy (for a change).

Depends on what job I'm doing.
The first part of one job-whenever the fuck I feel like it. Usually in the middle of the night when it starts to hit me.
The second part-depends on how involved I am and the schedule that's set. Sometimes I just sit back and wait for the meager check. And I do mean meager.
Another job-depends on call. Usually @5-6 am until 7pm-12am, depending on the type and what my job is in it.
Or finally, the other job will involve first part-every waking hour because I have been given a crapload of things to do and very little time to do it in. Then there'll be what's called a 'ten out of twelve,' where I'll be there for twelve hours, supposedly working for ten, but usually staring at my shoe save for an hour and a half spread out throughout where I actually do something, which is usually just hit a button.
Then it's evenings, usually around @6pm to about 11pm.
Or, I got through a long period where I don't find anything, which means I should be working on the first thing listed...

9 to 6 Monday through Friday, with pretty much exactly 30min overtime each day. Starting October it'll be more though, as I'm going back to uni and want to keep my job (not full time, but as much as I possibly can).
