where do you think is the best place to take a holiday? (I'm at a loss of where to go)
bad holiday memories? do tell
My worst holiday was a cruise in the Mediterranean creepy crawlies were everywhere and the ship was basically a brick covered in rust and horny sailors.
On the good side a seagull stole my sandwich (which tuned out gave everyone food poisoning)

I can't really afford holidays, so I chillax in a hammock that spans the length of my room, and turn the volume up to max.

great places i've been:
travelling round california in summer for two weeks. awesome. if you're american that might not have the same allure though.
crete - especially getting the boat to santorini. just stunningly beautiful and not too expensive
portugal was lovely but very touristy (the bits i went to)
amsterdam makes for a (easily forgettable and hazy) long weekend away in a city
oh and i hear poland is cheap and has great weather in the summer

I haven't really been much of anywhere, mostly to stay with family in other states. I am seriously thinking of saving up this year to go on a vacation next year with my husband. I will probably worry about the girls the whole time though.

Antarctica is the very best for a holiday, but not exactly for a quick break.
Iceland is wonderful. Expensive, especially if you're a drinker, but the culture is great and the people mega.
St Petersburg is also a great place to visit. And Uzbekistan for the Silk Road (people there are perhaps the friendliest).
Never had a bad holiday. Other than Communist Romania. Istanbul I think is over-rated, once you get away from the major tourist sites and the Bosporus it is a bog standard city of no outstanding feature, but I suppose you could say the same about many cities.

Had great holidays in:
South-Eastern Spain
Michigan's Upper Peninsula
Northern Scandinavia: Lappland
Scotland
I guess I'll elaborate...
South-Eastern Spain: Beautiful beaches, and almost never rains (I was there for a month, only rained once). The women are gorgeous. You can hop on a boat to Africa or Gibralter if you will, so you can brag about it to your friends. Spanish people are very hospitable. Siesta is a great way to gear up for night long parties.
Lappland: This is for outdoor enthusiasts who don't mind or even enjoy the cold (namely: Mariehamn). Skiing, reindeer, dog-sleds, and the Northern Lights being viewed from a hot-tub. Wonderful.
Michigan's Upper Peninsula: Just forget it, you gotta come from the Great Lakes to appreciate this. :p
Scotland: Great people, food, and atmosphere. I actually like the raining everday though, and I'm usually cheery when there's fog, but along with the country-side and casual atmosphere, I just had a blast here.
But. I'd go with the first two if you're going to take my recommendations.

what kind of vacation do you want? when are you going? do you like quiet or wild? where do you live now? how much money do you expect to spend on it? do you like to gamble?
my preference is aruba. incredible beaches, great people. great accomodations, lots of people who speak english and spanish, you can drink the water, it seldom rains and they have some nice casinos.
