For safety sake the silent running electric vehicles will now be required to make noise; to prevent accidents of other cars, bicycles and pedestrians. Electric Automobile makers are using this as a marketing tool saying you can choose the sound you wish your car to make.

So what sound would your car make? Mine would be sound of the flying cars from the Jetsons. That would inspire fear and terror in my foes.

I was going to say "the sound of bubbles," but that's sort of closer to what I imagined. What would also be cool, would be that sweeping sound KITT's forward sensor made in Knight Rider.

I like the KITT swish, that's a good one.

Though I might go for a voice repeating "Look where you're going, dumbass"...

Actually, I think that would be a good sound for electrical cars to make. Not only do you have the volume, but the pitch would be proportional to the speed of the car. Good call!

Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang noise on Tuesdays and Thursdays and odd Sundays; Goofy's car noise on Wedensdays and Mondays; and rap music out of spite on random days.

In retrospect, a recording of my six year old nephew making engine noises. Especially if it includes 'shifting'.

hmmmm.... the 1812 overture. Either that or the sound of lots of mini-gasoline explosions going off in a closed space causing a piston to move up and down.

Mine would make the sound the origional sound the flubber car did ... kind of a gurglly pop lol

My car would sound like all 4 engines of a 747. I love deafing some people!

'mine' running on its narrow gauge guideway, would make almost none at all. only the quiet humm of electric motors and the turning of wheels on guideway. some forms of these, running on maglev, would not even have the wheel sound. unless, that is, it were to detect obsticles ahead of it. it would do this far enough ahead to roll gently to a safe, calm and peaceful stop, then sound a very loud, annoying and frightning 'horn'. also automaticly notifying the dispatching center of the obstruction and as much as it could detect about it, including immaging from the closed circuit video that lets all the passengers enjoy an unimpeeded 'cabride' view out the front.

Now that I think about it, I find it annoying that someone would mandate that your electric car make noise. What if you got an electric car because it didn't make any noise? In that case, fine, you want my electric car to make noise? I would have it broadcast active noise cancellation to make surrounding traffic sound quieter.:p

Though... I admit having a car with the rumble warp speed sounds like fun.

I intend on never turning my stereo down enough for the car noises to be audible.

Exactly! If every car was to be equipped with a noise emitting system, you wouldn't hear a thing on the road. Just imagine the poor people living next to a large road? Or rush hour in a big city? Argh! :eek:

if any one has liestened the "assault on the death star" from Star Wars IV....this is the famousest sound i could imagine

My hybrid car would make a noise not unlike a jet engine, or perhaps the sound of a turbine powered helicopter's engines spooling up, because i would have a nice small diesel turbine as the main power generation unit.

Or just for the hell of the sound of a tornado Gr4 doing a low level pass with full afterburner ie the loudest most earth shattering raspberry/fart you have ever heard.
