*shifty eyes*

If...say, a notebook were to fall onto the floor, and...*shifty eyes*, seem to work, but the mouse and hte keyboard doesn't...

...

...in a general, vague term, what would be the reason? *shifty eyes*

I'm sorry, I have no idea, haven't dropped mine yet (knock on wood).

But your post really made me laugh - and this while still being mad about another thread. So "Cheers!" to you dropping your notebook! :D

Oh. Now I feel bad for being so cheery. That sucks.:(

ETA: you could of course go the computer illiterate route and just turn it off for a couple of hours and see if it'll get itself together. Works for me, most of the time.

Oh, right, sorry. If you'd like, I'll go back and edit everything to "a friend's notebook", no problem!

DONT OPEN IT UP TO FIND OUT!

it requires the removal of about 10,000 screws so tiny that you need a magnifying glass to see them. you will immediately lose 8,000 of them.

when you take it to the shop, they will notice the missing screws immediately. this voids your warranty if you have one, and if you dont, its the cue to them to charge you any price they would like.

take it to the shop. DONT TELL THEM YOU DROPPED IT. say it just quit working for mysterious reasons. if they open it up and something cracked they'll know its because you dropped it. this might void your warranty. might not. if nothing cracked, theyll never know the problem was your fault.

If you plug in an external keyboard will that work? If so, you can check device manager and see if everything looks okay, check BIOS...If not you could always return it to it's rightful owner and keep your mouth shut....

1,100 whats? American Dollars? I hope not, you can get a brand new notebook for that (well, it probably isn't the nicest one ever, but it works)

Open it up and make sure that all the cables are attached to stuff at both ends. Also make sure that no very thin bus cables have been torn.
