I actually like it. One of the problems with the last two iterations of the Camaro was that it was really just a Corvette Jr. If you look at the original Camaro, it's supposed to be a Pony car. And I think that the dash design is pretty cool looking, harkens to an era while looking well put together.

I don't like that the grill looks like it's smiling at me like an anthropomorphic cartoon car, but I think it has a nice beefy look to it.

If I liked beefy cars like this, this one would be my choice over the Mustang, GTO and Charger. I don't like beefy cars, though...

I hate the gauge's, yellow-oragne wft? and since you mentioned it the grill does seem odd. Although I like the new Challenger by Dodge (yup they are bringing it back to life too), it looks alot like the old muscle cars. Pic 1 (http://www.allpar.com/images/dodge/challenger/front-quarter.jpg) Pic 2

The links aren't playing well with my browser or something. Doesn't matter, I've seen it. It's a very retro design in a way that the Camaro skirts ever so slightly. I have to agree that the Challenger is certainly a beefy car as well. It would at the very least get the comparative test drive before I bought the Camaro. The haunches of the Camaro do bear out the Mustang comparison (not so much the rest for me, and the interior seperates the two by stides). I think it is a fair comparison, especially when you consider that GM felt the failing of the Camaro vs. the Mustang in sales was the Mustang's ability to accomidate passengers where as the Camaro barely qualified for 2+2 status. The orange doesn't bother me as much, as I look at it as a signifier. And I'm sure you can opt for a different color (it would be a mistake if you couldn't).

I wonder, and I guess I can look this up on my own, is this going to mean the return of the Trans-Am as well? And will that answer the things I don't like (the smile, the Mustang haunch)

New Camaro:

Not bad, not bad at all. Not like I would ever be able to afford one though. Sigh.

You have to look at it for what it is. It's a Pony car, a street thug. Properly done, it should look like it wants your lunch money. They're ground pounders. You have to judge them within their 'family.'

I get you, you and I both like the more carved and refined drivers cars, sports cars and sports coupes that are more sculpted rather than hammered out. But that's not the kind of car this thing is even trying to be. In its family of cars it, and obviously this is opinion, is among the better looking.

But like I had said, in general I don't like these kinds of cars. But thats a personal preference.

Well, I guess in this class I'd prefer the new Mustang Cobra GT500. It's not pretty either, but it does it for me much more than this one.

Or the Australian ones. They can look aggressive, but without all the sharp corners, without really trying to look as heavy as they can.

This grill would have looked better, perhaps they where trying to avoid over-retroing the car.

I was going to put the new 'Stang and this car side by side to see if the comparison got worse or better, but I couldn't find a smaller picture of the Camaro and then lost interest...
