Ah. Not very different from drunken Battleship (miss = drink), which I once confess to having played.

I lost. Badly.

Hah! I play Star Fleet Battles regularly! It makes Axis and Allies look like checkers!

My favourites would be either SFB or Arkham Horror.

Scotland was pretty good, Clue and Risk too

I once played a game called Moolah

You could mug other players of their money
You could go to the bar
You could serve time (minimum and max security in the Big House)

Seriously it was a hoot

I have to see if I can a copy again...I forget how you win but it was great

Oh and Taboo...especially under the influence

So...instead of buying properties, you use "manpower" points and engineer revolutions to take over the places? And instead of morgaging the property, you take out a few revolutionaries and the capitalist pigs exert control again? And instead of paying rent you have to "help your fellow man" or something. What are the playing pieces? A moldy piece of cheese, a worn out old boot, a car on blocks....:p

1. (Castle) Risk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Risk) - Nothing like conquering half the board on the first turn by taking out an opponent's castle with that Admiral card.

2. Backgammon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backgammon) - Strategy and skill with some 2D6 "!@#$ happens" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dice) on the side. :D Although I don't claim to play well. GNU Backgammon (http://www.gnubg.org/) rates me as somewhere between "Casual Player" and "Intermediate," however.

I am the Pwnz0rz at risk. only one record loss. LOTR risk is a different story. Involves less strategy.

Anyone remember Dark Tower?

Yes. Those suckers are rare. However, Steve Jackson Games has Dork Tower, which is a non-electronic remake based off of Kovalic's comic strip.

I also like to play Junta.

I knew I forgot something...'Acey Ducey' (it's played on a backgammon board), I used to love that game but I dont own a board and have not played for years....

Mmmm, now I'm thinking I should go and buy a backgammon board and teaching other house-members how to play acey ducey! Great, just what I needed - more stuff on my 'to buy' list!
