Oooh! Quotes! (By the way, some of the quotes you've mentioned has been alternately attributed to: Al Gore, Bill Clinton, George Bush (Sr. and Jr.), and Dan Quayle ;) )

"As many of you know, I was very instrumental in founding the internet." - Al Gore to Katie Couric

"I am not part of the problem, I am a Democrat." - Vice President Al Gore

"The future will be better tomorrow." - Vice President Al Gore

"For NASA, space is still a high priority." - Vice President Al Gore

"I was raised in the West. The west of Texas. It's pretty close to California. In more ways than Washington, D.C., is close to California." - Bush

"I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family." - Bush

"I think war is a dangerous place." - Bush

"My trip to Asia begins here in Japan for an important reason. It begins here because for a century and a half now, America and Japan have formed one of the great and enduring alliances of modern times. From that alliance has come an era of peace in the Pacific." - Bush

"God loves you, and I love you. And you can count on both of us as a powerful message that people who wonder about their future can hear." - Bush

“See, free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations don't attack each other. Free nations don't develop weapons of mass destruction." — George W. Bush

"Where did this idea come from that everybody deserves free education? Free medical care? Free whatever? It comes from Moscow. From Russia. It comes straight out of the pit of hell." - Debbie Riddle (R-Houston)

This one is SO my favorite. Especially after his recent comments about his home-invasion/armed robbery experience. Sure, lets outlaw guns so only outlaws will have them. Then act all shocked when you get robbed at gunpoint. THEN, forgive the robbers, and say you don't want them prosecuted. And, finally, advocate MORE gun control laws, even though you just said you don't want to prosecute the criminals, who just robbed you, at GUNPOINT. Classic. I think Barry is still on the pipe.

The idea that everyone deserves free education (not free medical care, though) was one of the earliest principles of American government, because you need an educated and informed populace to have a real democracy!

Of course, Bush and the other neo-cons don't mind the suckiness of our public education system for just that reason. I'm not at all surprised that she seems to have a selective memory about that point.

Now that, my friends, is a very nice try.

I will break it down for those of you who missed it.

First, he claims he doesn't demand to be recognized as anything and declares that kind of thing pointless. However, it is pointless because people pretend to be things they are not. What does that have to do with demanding to be recognized as something? I don't know, it is just part of the transition into an insult of me in the end part of the sentence: "such as you, for example." He insists that I pretend I am something I am not. I'm not sure what he is referring to because I, like any of you still reading this, am wondering where I pretended to be anything at all. Maybe he is talking about my name. LOL! But, doesn't that make you paranoid? I mean, if I had suggested they were on some sort of crusade against me, they would immediately pounce on that as proof that I wear "a tinfoil hat" and see conspiricies around every corner.

Pffft, I do see conspiricies around every corner, and I have been known to wear tinfoil hats on occasion. After all, the Canadian-controlled Boy Scouts of America might join forces with the French Controlled Girl Scouts, build a satellite, and try to control me! Of course, they might not be able to do that before I die fighting the Chinese...

Here's the deal. Alot of us whom you so readily call "Bushites" are centrist. But you fucking Liberals go off on your anti-Bush tantrums so often, and so venomously, that we can't help but defend the parts that are pure conjecture, or patently false.

Next thing you know, we're labeled "Bushites" by the clueless, planless, powerless, left, and they never even realize that we hate the christian right just as much.

The only difference is that the left can't keep their slanderous yaps shut for more than 5 minutes at a time.

Are some Repubs just as bad as Liberals? YES!!!
But at least they have the good sense to shut the fuck up every once in a while.

"On Monday, President Bush wrote a letter offering his condolences to the wife of the missing Chinese fighter pilot. After Bush wrote the letter, it was quickly given to experts and then translated. Then it was translated into Chinese." —Jimmy Fallon, on Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update"

"If combat means living in a ditch, females have biological problems staying in a ditch for thirty days because they get infections and they don't have upper body strength. I mean, some do, but they're relatively rare. On the other hand, men are basically little piglets, you drop them in the ditch, they roll around in it, doesn't matter, you know. These things are very real. On the other hand, if combat means being on an Aegis-class cruiser managing the computer controls for twelve ships and their rockets, a female may be again dramatically better than a male who gets very, very frustrated sitting in a chair all the time because males are biologically driven to go out and hunt giraffes."

I never realized that Al Gore was just as prone to Bushisms as Bush himself. I wonder, if he had become President, would things be just as bad now but in a different way?

Anything's possible.

Thing is, the list of documented Bushisms that happened not just during interviews with softball-pitching TV hosts, but during campaign speeches and press conferences and actual official White House PR events is staggering and I'd wager at least ten times the length of any other politicians with the exception of Dan Quayle.

And the whole thing about Al Gore being "instrumental in founding the internet"? Look it up. He was instrumental. When Arpanet needed government funding, guess who was the chair of the committee that pre-Net project needed money from? Al Gore. It got hyperbolized by his opponent's spinmeisters as "invented the internet" which is complete crap. He no more invented the internet than anyone who's ever funded research invented anything. However, saying that a funding source, especially one who must use reason, procedure and protocol to make his point and get the money where it needs to go, was "instrumental" in the founding of something is certainly valid.

So please don't tell me that the media only pounce on the Right. Joe Biden, Howard Dean, Gary Hart, Pat Schroeder, Bill & Hillary Clinton, Jimmy Carter, John McCain, Dan Rostenkowski, Gerald Ford, Bob Packwood, Newt Gingrich, George Nethercutt, Sam Nunn, Daniel Inouye...folks from every side...modern political journalists are equal opportunity character assassins.

Yes, I was kidding. But I do agree about having the women fighting in the trenches vs. pushing buttons and launching missiles or flying jets and bombing the enemy. I know that my daughter is happy not to have been sent over to Iraq, in spite of her marksmanship skills. She is a stateside Army button-pusher, and I am glad as well...;)

Besides, we men can be quite the pigs and/or dogs, and although I have no urge to go out and hunt any animals, including giraffes, I wouldn't mind having a job where I got to hunt down humans...:mp5:

"Doctors say that Cheney's heart is not in very good shape, and they are thinking of replacing it one day with a donor heart. That's why they keep Bush around — for the heart. Why do you think they've got Bush running every day?" —Jay Leno

"It was so boring, Monica got up from under the podium and left." —From David Letterman's "Top Ten Answers To The Question, 'How Boring Was George W. Bush's Speech?'"

Also, anyone who makes a comment about "wow they mess up too!" needs to take a step back and re-read all the Bushisms. For every 1 democrat screwing up you can quote, someone can quote 4 from Bush.

I don't like democrats- they've just grown too cowardly to fight the kind of election the republicans do, but republicans? Need to be shot. Just in the leg, that'd be fine, get 'em to calm the frack down.

Well, there are a few on here who can actually manage to carry on a civil debate. Unfortunately, few of those chose to involve themselves in this one.

To add to the problem, it wasn't just two people, it was, as usual, me and about six others ( and one n00b who used his first post to insult someone about whom he knows absolutely nothing! Heh! ). In American football, this would be an illegal play known as "piling on," which I think has a 15-yard penalty.

However, being as charitable as possible, the mods don't consider this a violation of the TOS. If I had responded with anything other than what someone on here has referred to as "childish responses," it would have been a different story ... I would have been deleated so fast everyone's head would have spun. This is one of the primary reasons some few try so hard to bait me; they're hoping I'll slip up and wind up being deleated.

Care to make any reasonable connection between style, syntax, or point of view? Or look to notice that I'm in a password protected region all by my self that never once contained Chess Squares? Or notice all the times the two of us argued? Or are you just going to continue to hurl baseless accusations at me everytime you feel all wounded? Coward.

And let us examine this 'insult,' shall we? What I said-
Well, since the opening post contains a thrice mis-atributed quote that actually belongs to a writer for MAD Magazine, it seems that the point of the thread is political hackery...
Which refers to this-

"If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure." --Bill Clinton, President

But as pointed out here-
http://www.snopes.com/quotes/candidate.asp

Actually no
that the quote has not only been atributed to Clinton by you, but Bush by others to Quale by even more but is in fact-
And some are "Quayleisms"; that is, comments now widely attributed to the former Vice-President that were actually coined by humor writers as examples of the sort of things he might say:

[MAD Magazine, 1991]

* "If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure."
MAD Magazine. Thus, my statement that the quote is misatributed is true, and the purpose while a conclusion is, given the evidence, a reasonable one. If you find it insulting then you should amend yourself, not make baseless attacks on the messanger.

"I am not part of the problem, I am a Democrat." - Vice President Al Gore
"I am not part of the problem. I am a Republican" - President George W. Bush

But as I alluded to in my original post in this thread: I know there is a margin of error with some of the older quotes, but I frankly do not care at this point. It was supposed to be all in good fun, what?
'course we could be accurate, like:
