Obviously doctored or a complete fake. Google likes to do that sort of thing every once in a while, like when they put GWB's bio at the top of "failure" search results even though the word is nowhere to be seen on the page.

How is that obviously fake? It seems quite possible that such a building could have been designed entirely without realizing that it formed a swastika. It could also be an old pre-WWII building; after all, the swastika used to be the symbol of the 45th Infantry Division. Hardly seems impossible or sinister- just an interesting coincidence.

Yes obviously doctored. Here is a shot of it, I found it using google earth. Unless you think google earth has been doctored too.

It could also be an old pre-WWII building; after all, the swastika used to be the symbol of the 45th Infantry Division. Hardly seems impossible or sinister- just an interesting coincidence.I'd plump for it being designed without a thought. Filling a square plot of land with buildings, with the need for said buildings to be thin enough to let light into most ground-floor internal rooms (or indeed all, without skylights) and yet get enough floor space out of the deal suggests a limited number of designs. Looks like a low-storey sloping-roofed building at it's centre, with axially radiating buildings built to the perimiter and then additional extensions (connected at roof, but with 'covered walkways' beneath to separate the extensions at ground level) running along one-half each of the sides (so as not to totally surround the remaining open areas). There are other configurations, but it's not surprising that this (if genuine) might have occured any number of times in reality with the designers in total ignorance (as long as the latest plans and blueprints were done 'per building' not for the block as a whole).

The two 'eagles' are also a solution for the "single connected building" idea, allowing for two almost completely enclosed 'squares' for parking (or parading, or whatever was all the rage at the time of building) and a couple of slightly more open ones for 'greenspace'.

The sub base is at Point Loma to the North. This is on the Coronado marine base. I vote for the built in phases over time theory as military bases are often in need of more space for people. I should think that someone would have noticed, but who knows?

The people at google didn't put GWB's bio there, Google bombers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_bomb) did. It's an internet fad going around...

You really think that even if these buildings were built in the last 6 or so years that Bush really had time or the inclination to personally get involved with making them look like a swastika? Id10t!

Or like the period where searching "French military victories" gave you a no-results-found alert with the question/link "Did you mean French military defeats?".

You never read Al-Jazeera.com, did ya?

Other than the comics, there is nothing there that you wouldn't find on CNN or BBC.

Oh, I was on a "I really wish they understood" kick there for a while before I came to the realization that most people there want to hate the US for the sake of hating the US. As far as real, unbiased news goes, they rank right up there with the Weekly World News IMHO.

Its wierd, in many arab countries Al-Jazeera get attacked for being too western and allowing isrealis to voice their opinions. They've been banned in a few middle eastern countries too, yet Americans seem to think that they're a mouth piece of some arab extremist terrorist group. From the times I've looked at their site, they seem to just carry news like anywhere else.

I looked at aljazeera.com and they definitely have some sharp opinions. Although, all news services have bias, Fox, CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera... they all tilt one way or another, and no one carries "just" the news.
